About this ebook

Out of the Chrysalis: Free To Fly, celebrates and embraces the transformation within oneself when surviving a loss. Healing after a divorce, or the death of a loved one can be extremely difficult. The author describes some personal accounts of her own struggles and compares them to what a caterpillar goes through when transforming into a beautiful butterfly. The battle within our own chrysalis is something that most of us cannot understand. The author offers her own story in the hopes that the reader will be inspired enough to begin their own journey towards transformation and in turn be free to fly.

    Dedication

This book is dedicated to all of the butterflies in my life who have been by my side during the good and bad moments throughout my journey.

Family, friends and even those I have never met.

    Thank you!

    A Special Thanks

To my children, Chris, Alex and Konnor, your patience and love has meant the world to me throughout our journey.

To the editor, Christopher Woodside for making my life a little easier during my writing process. Working with you on this project was truly a blessing.

    Forward

I was flattered when Kimberly asked me to write a forward for her book. I have read a lot of forwards and they all have been different. There is no blueprint, no map to follow. So where do I start? In The Sound of Music they sing, Let’s start at the very beginning. OK, let’s start with the word forward. (I am now looking up the definition.)  The first definition is near or belonging to the front part of something. Not quite...  Let’s check the next definition, which is moving or directed ahead or toward the front. Well, I could use that to describe her if this was a book about waiting in line for the restroom. Let me look at the last definition: moving toward the future or toward a more advanced state or condition. There we go! This I can work with!

Let’s just get this out there - Kimberly has had her moments in the monkey cage. (You know, like when monkeys throw feces at you.)  We all have had those moments where we could either give up or get through it.  For me a great analogy is when I ran in a marathon in what could only be described as a monsoon.  Halfway into it I had to make a choice:  either continue and get through it no matter what or give into the storm and not finish.  I chose to continue.  Kimberly has also weathered some storms and hasn’t let her circumstances stop her, or define her.  I admire her for that.  Instead of letting the negative actions of others hold her back, she took the energy that would've been wasted on giving in to all the drama and instead used it in a positive way to advance to the next part of her life.  She didn’t give into the depression or bitterness that can often come from situations like hers. Instead, she chose to move forward.  Which has inspired others to do the same.

So, if you are feeling like you are in a monkey cage, or running a marathon in the middle of a monsoon with no end in sight - you can get past it.  I am sure Kimberly will shed some light on how to dodge the flying poop and move past the storms, by moving forward toward the future with more strength, knowledge, determination, and confidence.  All of which describe why Kimberly, as they also say in The Sound of Music, is one of my favorite things.

Maybe this is also why they are always happy and smiling at Disney.
