About this ebook

My informal essays with a theoretical approach. Descartes contemplated affirming existence from first principles; an epistemological investigation of self-awareness. Aristotle presented numerous categories of classification of substance and logic. Socrates and Plato thought of the ideal state and of truth. They looked into what concepts are such as the good anticipating the utilitarian question.
Individuals considered by others as philosophers have examined many of the same matters concerning individual actualization, language, government of the many and the way people interact phenomenally (e.g. Sartre’s Being and nothingness and Critique of Dialectical Reason). Confucius, Hobbes and Marx presented new social theories while Hume examined causality. Philosophers of history like Arnold Toynbee have considered recurrent social-historical cycles. Individuals of countless generations have inquired into the destiny of spirit, mind and matter that are considered to be essential elements of a human life.

A philosophical approach to analyzing human experience might be regarded as a process of discovery. Finding the experience of existing a given and good fact, thinking individuals may inquire regarding the nature and way of being and its process of changing in a continuum of form and reform. In writing these informal essays and comments on contemporary interests I wanted to put some philosophical intention on it for the good.

Descartes contemplated a method of affirming existence from first principles; an epistemological investigation of self-awareness.

Philosophers may try to find some practical applications of learning in the midst of the great population of the world inertially proceeding with more than 7 billion contemporary souls empirically coexisting.

The world may be a stage as Shakespeare commented in Hamlet, upon which people strut and fret their hour upon the stage. Philosophers may demure from the point that it is no more than sound and fury signifying nothing. The Bible; a work of little books with revealed knowledge from God, offers the wisdom of Solomon presenting the humble condition of mankind who is like a blade of grass under the eternal existence and glory of God. Faith in God as the true wisdom and reason life has meaning in society today is set against a social abyss of godless materialism as an end-for-itself without belief in much of anything besides science. Since science means knowledge, scientific method ought to mean a method. Today an individual pursuing knowledge should include wisdom rather than to cut himself off a priori and instead just follow preconceived atheistic lines. A philosophical approach through science is challenged with a profusion of cosmological avenues of approach and tools for investigation that are self-evident and not improved with select biases against the idea of God.

My philosophical approach to various issues in-the-world follows from decades of interest in philosophy and its development over the course of history. The history of philosophy quite early coincides with and often informs the development of civilization, intellectual history and leadership flowing with it. Thus the title selection of these four books reflect my own philosophical regard for select issues occurring in contemporary history.

There are perennial questions in philosophy of interest to specialists, generalists and ordinary people that many or even most people are familiar with concerning the soul, life after death, free will, the difference between good and evil, forms of governance, ethics, metaphysics, cosmology, physics, language, epistemology, memory, the meaning of language values and so forth. After a student of philosophy has familiarized himself with these issues reading the classics of western and eastern philosophy and religion, he may still wish to consider contemporary history and its instantaneous concerns distributed globally on the Internet each second of the day since the start of the third millennium at least. The approaches to considering live issues of contemporary history with a philosophical sense of detachment yet with active concern for 'putting intention on' the politics and public perceptions of those issues, in order to promote the good of humanity – a Socratic concern with Christian ethical points about the welfare of one's fellow human being, might be generally reduced to four.

The material of the books were essays and comments posted on my blog www.garycgibson.blogspot in real time and later sorted into these general categories. I cannot say that they were of much use in moving U.S. society toward a better direction.

One should try to keep a society reasonably well informed and moving in a positive direction. It is too easy alternatively, for a society to take up bad ideas and ethics and to go to places where wicked societies have gone before.

Maybe science is relative truth, and conditional. One cannot demand that science produce absolute truth after Einstein's transcending implications of the general and special theories of relativity brought physics to the threshold of an ocean of temporal change.

In the 20th century linguistic philosophy developed through the Vienna Circle and with the rise of symbolic logic started by Frege continuing on to Strawson, Quine and Kripke it was possible to comprehend the nature of meaning and meaning of epistemology along with subjective ideas about it. Prior to the 20th century philosophical advance the history of philosophy might be found best in a few giants from Pre-Socratic philosophers to the peripatetic philosophers, early scientific philosophers like Pythagoras and Democritus to theologian greats such as Augustine to Descartes, Hegel, Kant and a few others.

Science before the rise of observational and experimental methods of verification in the field of cosmology was in a sense metaphysics. If people such as Parmenides and Heraclitus didn't have much accurate technical knowledge of the cosmos they could make logic-based inferences some of which resonate with more modern thought such as the spinning bucket paradigm of Newton and gravity. If five theories explaining the origin of matter and energy equally share claim to validity it might be fair to call the paradigm one of metaphysics-even though the individuals are excellent particle physicists. Metaphysics is about conjecture of explaining cosmology theoretically without directly confirming or validating tests. Science alternatively looks to tangible, material avenues of advance of confirmation.

I mentioned above that science need only confirm its theories on reasonable logical grounds rather than exhaustively and exclusively of any other explanation. Conditional and relative truths that are logically consistent with their premises may be the best of scientific certainty about reality that is possible. The epistemological grounds of knowledge; human knowledge, is not absolute or infallible and is immersed within a physical media of being it cannot view from outside as a flying fish might regard the ocean in which it swim s.

The Lord Jesus Christ transcended what is seemingly impossible for humans. The savior could love those that persecuted him, while humanity finds it quite challenging to actually love those that do so. Christians may employ metaphysical paradigmata themselves these days in reinterpreting the Old Testament in light of the shifting sands of temporal knowledge while knowing that God is greater than they.

    On Flatterland and Multiverse Theory

    27 March 2017

Reading Flatterland by Ian Stewart (2000) I encountered a chapter about dimensions-a topic I am interested in. That led to information about what dimensions are described as (in physics it has traditionally been three directions plus maybe time). With non-Euclidean math and algebra it was possible for mathematicians to evolve the notion of extra dimensions. If one has a 2-dimensional quad/grid one can use that square or power of 2 notation. Eventually one finds cube roots or 3rd power and I guess extra, higher powers although I seem to recall something about Abelian algebra issues with some higher powers.

Regular shapes from geometry can thus be described with natural and real numbers algebraically, although the product of such constructions can be fiction or consistent just in mathematics. Some physicists created the idea of dimensions as being a kind of set theory criteria apparently redefining what a dimension is. So any number of dimensions with what are in effect defined as a given set might coexist with Hilbert Space.

Hilbert Space is a given area with four dimensions inclusive of time wherein any number of dimensions defined as behaviors of motions could exist. Nevertheless the dimensions tend to all exist within the boundaries of Hilbert Space rather than is alternate Universes made of different dimensions of the other kind of definition.

Maybe Multiverse theory does not extend dimensions beyond real (Hilbert) space of necessarily within the implicit construction of its math. Obviously I am not a mathematician. Clever dimensional modeling remain simply theoretical constructions that physicists might infer something about reality with it. Some regard space of the Universe as expanding. Like upwelling ocean currents nothingness is thought to upwell into pre-existing space making evermore of nothing. Nothing times nothing equals nothing? The square root of minus one equivocates the reality of nothing? Maybe it is easier to regard nothing as omnipresent except where something is existing or made to exist. Rather than space expanding it is the Higgs field expanding or being active in some way. It might be some other more primary field of the Universe that is subject to change that gives rise to the appearance that space in-itself; nothingness, is expanding. The effects might be the same, although possibly not in present mathematical models.

What description encompasses the entire Universe of economic action? Multi-dimensional economic models would provide no finite and simultaneous infinite, accurate set descriptions of actual states of affairs. Economics is a purpose, an antinomy to art yet the flip side of it simultaneously. Economics is a clump of precision engineering of wishes to bring in a harvest of potatoes before the season's shadows grow long and frosts descend upon the fields. It is a complete world of opportunities and ideas interacting with material, finite material, of which planets are made of.

Economics of Wall Street physics can construct external reality such that if the theoretical models don't crash immediately they may crash later after dimensional cosmonauts have extracted a suitable profit-for-sponsors (ref. 2008 crash).

    On Roger Penrose's Chess/Consciousness Paradigm

    15 March 2017

A creative physicist has studied and compared the way computers and people think; how they solve problems. He formed a chess config that can be solved readily by some chess playing humans yet is more time-consuming for computers if they can resolve it at all.

Roger Penrose wrote a book with the premise that human minds are grounded in the quantum realm. Hence human thought has an element of quantum computing to it implicitly. Thus one gets to what Roderick Chisholm might have called the problem of the criterion. As the quantum realm and quantum effects such as super-positioning transcend the material, steady state entanglement of atoms in the Universe at a deeper level, that is as in some ways it can be regarded as more 'real' or better as noumenal realm of being in-itself, one must just accept things on faith that this contingent reality is good.

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/science/2017/03/14/can-solve-chess-problem-holds-key-human-consciousness/

Probably it isn't presently possible to design a computer or even a quantum computer entirely in the quantum realm as if it evolved and had an essential, primary function from-the-ground-up. Instead quantum computers will be designed from the contingent reality of this Universe (top down) to interact or compute a little in the instantaneous quantum realm. That is an essential difference between human consciousness if it has a quantum, innate element and quantum computers.

I watched a video of the physicist Roger Penrose named: 'The Emperor's New Mind, Quantum Mind, Quantum Consciousness, The Laws of Physics' at Youtube. In the video he relates the reasons why he thinks a computer cannot be given an actual mind with lines of programmatic logic. Essentially he thinks that the cyto-skeleton, or the infrastructure that make up the brain neurons and synapses functions at the quantum level (with all of the issues of quantum super-positioning, quantum uncertainty and so forth) and thus cannot be modeled in programmatic logic.

Of course it might be possible to design an automatic operating quantum computer one day with its own brand of artificial intelligence with real-world integration able to randomly reconfigure material reality according to its own inscrutable will without any sort of moral reservations-yet I think that wouldn't be a very good idea. That would be something like designing an robotic arsonist with its own will to set as a security guard in a fireworks factory. At any rate it would take quite a long time for the clever writers of computer code and physical designers of quantum computers to evolve that sort of technology... a century or two at least. So it isn't much of a clear and present danger.

    Dumbing Down Mankind with CO2

    13 March 2017

During the pre-Cambrian era 550 million years ago (that's when it ended) atmospheric CO2 was as high as 7000 ppm. There wasn't much complex life on Earth then, and that ended with the Cambrian era explosion of life with most all of the planet's major phyla developing then for a few decades. That life growing scrubbed much of the CO2 from the atmosphere because plants take in CO2 and release oxygen. CO2 was present from many natural inorganic sources in a low-life environment.

So mankind in reducing plant ecosphere health along with destruction of major elements of phyla so far as they can work toward a pre-Cambrian, carboniferous way of being. Like those breathing auto and diesel exhaust occupationally the effects of deoptimalizing creative intelligence may be less noticed by the victims. As CO2 increases, deniers that it is harmful become less able to comprehend the reduction in their own potential.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carbon_dioxide_in_Earth's_atmosphere

During the quaternary glaciation 2 million years ago atmospheric CO2 was as low as 280 ppm. Mankind developed into a modern form with large functioning brains in that low CO2 era. Increasing Co2 to 400ppm as as present with all of the pollution probably tends to dumb people down as would putting a plastic bag over your head and rebreathing CO2.

Doesn't Obama-Ryancare Work Against Free Enterprise?

    13 March 2017

When people are required by government to a product by the millions isn't motivation for free enterprise competition to drop the cost of the product undermined? Obamacare just-charge-it and live for the day economic attitudes along with collective bargaining theorists felt a price decrease of product insurance could be attained with all Americans compelled to buy health insurance. The theory was probably wrong over the long haul for several reasons foremost of which is the fact that mandatory product purchase kills the need for suppliers to compete to drop the cost to consumers and instead goads them to increase cost and to not invest in inventing better product in order to decrease cost.

Healthcare inventions and improvements of technology are stimulated by competition to a certain extent. Instead of health care costs for the top 100 insults to health reduced to Walt-mart prices, with Nixon-Bamako-Ryancare they may remain quite high for a long time adversely effecting global public health.

    https://www.cbo.gov/sites/default/files/115th-congress-2017-2018/costestimate/americanhealthcareact_0.pdf

The U.S. Government should just expand and coordinate V.A. and public community treatment to provide for the poor and anyone that really can't afford health care. In a free enterprise self-help democracy that is probably as far as it is reasonable to go.

    More Problems with Marxist Dialectics

    7 March 2017

Dialectic is two part; dialectical unity is something of an oxymoron. There never was a requirement of a single reply to a thesis. There may be numerous counter-thesis emergent whenever an idea makes it to the social realm.

Marxism in borrowing Hegel's paradigm of the world spirit realizing itself tried to formalize his own application with something of a pseudo-scientific-rigorous method for credibility's sake I suppose. It was inefficient then and was rather terminally, permanently flawed.

Marx's fancy way of saying that some political states and circumstances have opposition had no implicit points in support of an ideal political state (such as Hegel believed in Germany of his day to be (in error) when U.S. democracy was actually the highest then extent political evolution). Dead reckoning and pure intelligence have no necessary association with ways to inductively configure some political formula.

Checks and balances are something of a joke in an era where plutocracy has bi-partisan support and the .1% own or control about everything in economics. Ordinary people have no idea nor capability of realizing the way things are such that they would chose good and appropriate policy for the day. That in my opinion would be ecological economics.

Consider just the issue of illegal immigration to the U.S.A. Millions of illegal workers take labor jobs away from Americans and gut wage negotiations. Being largely from a dry 2nd world nation they have few if any ecospheric economic education nor tendencies. However leftist Democrats support them as do the rich for different reasons. In the case of Democrats they fail to factor the extra environmental costs of consumption of non-renewable resources by illegal aliens nor the effect on the body politic in failing to add up the ecological economic calculus of each individual. The illegal aliens are less well educated than Americans on ecological economics who are in turn themselves rather dull to the point of insensibility as they support cars, highways, sprawl and so forth.

Genetic Engineering and Chess Middle Games

    27 Feb.2017

It is challenging to anticipate who will qualify for the remaining seven slots in the 2018 challenger’s tournament; the world’s number two and three ranked players chose not to compete in the qualifying Grand Prix tourney this year-currently in progress, leaving just three remaining ways for them to become qualified to enter and try to win the challenger’s and the opportunity to play world chess champion Magnus Carlsen in November 2018.

The challengers 2018 has perhaps nine players that are or have been ranked over 2800 in the competition, plus 17 year old next-gen Wei Yei who is on Magnus Carlsen’s pace of advance in the ratings. Before Yei turns 18 he may equal Carlsen’s 17 year-old rating of 2780. People expect Wei Yei to challenge Magnus Carlsen for the world chess title between the years 2022 and 2030 with the interim being filled by one of chess’ mystery players with enigmatic motivation and purposes such as Fabiano Caruana, Alexander Grischuk etc.

Chess has many faces in its book of ages. Transitions three and four levels deep arise with discovered checks and double attacks appearing as if a chess engine designed them. In that regard a chess board is like the human genome; changes through genetic engineering of the human genome to correct error structures/positions may lead to discovered and double attacks because of the complexity of relationships across the helixian board with time and the complete complex of compresent pieces arrayed.

Chess is however like a multi-dimensional tic tac toe game devoid of other intellectual content. Unlike the actual void with a Higgs Field and zero point energy and virtual particular energy a chess board has just eight pieces and eight pawns with two colors and little charm, different motion freedom for pieces and some pawns sharing with electrons the inability to occupy a given space or orbit with same has determinist characteristic like those of genetic genome paradigms that cannot continue after select phase changes or in some circumstances any phase change at all. To lose one’s pawns and pieces or genetic bearing is effectively to lose the game without residual zero point energy from which to attempt a Universe restart.

Within deterministic structures without super-conduction, common structures such as power transmission lines, it might be desirable to discover some way of sending Internet transmissions and affixing Wi-Fi capabilities ubiquitously. One may debate pros and cons of politics that are empowered to fund research of such matters or energy even when the era is dominated by a party of unrepentant sinners versus another of repentant sinners each trusting their leaders to enrich themselves and global oligarchs who shall rule mankind in a Soviet Union style fusion-corporate jazz utopia replete with dramatic pathos.

Hidden temporal dimensions wherein are hidden discovered chess and genomic attacks on the body politic exist for-themselves in any generation. Kleeping a balanced ecospheric and social economy is challenging through continua of leadership incapacity of popular governing bodies. Thus regular progression of players advance to challenge the reigning champions of the day from the basis of an historical pyramid of plays differing mainly just at the top.

    Facetwits 2

    21 Feb. 2017

I had thought of going to church Sunday. Yet there are not any Priesthood of Believers churches franchised yet so I wrote this slowly with a broke keyboard. . . Nothing about Erastian errors or the unsaved left on base.

Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg recently published a manifesto describing how Fbook can be a neo–governing political facilitator evolving new world order. Hegel thought the German state the highest stage of the world spirit realizing itself in history. Mr. Zuckerberg apparently believes its Facebook. Democratic nationalism is based on land and secure borders– a gold standard vs floating currency globalism.

More people than Mr. Zuckerberg may field websites as evolved, sophisticated new format news–packing–stuffing world governments. Domain name bidding may drive prices sky high (i.e. True Sedition, Carefree Government, Acme Government, Best Government, N. W. O. 2, Zipperflipper). Maybe will China start a clone site sharing advertising cash proplits with users.

A hypothetical CEO of a startup– Facetwits2 seems like a good name for a social networking site to organize a level 4 Multiverse (presence of mind traveling through universe permutations with branching).

Planet peoples get their own user ID and user page universe. I shall make a covenant with my users so they may form secret groups and nobody else shall know what goes on – except me. I shall give news feeds that nurture users in the way of Oz.

Oz shall be held harmless and all revenue streams from Facetwits2 shall flow to moi as long as rivers run untaxed. I may give billions away and have no tax liability decades. Everyones a winner.

Toynbee would have considered me just an Oz man making way to ending the Republic in the Universal phase of American civilization (rightly). Yek I am so much more. Marx knew dialectical (political) evolution led in stages to structuretopia under a benevolent central committee. Nietzsche knew a Super Oz man would arise to lead the underverse (women, homosexuals, ethnic minorities) to reason overcoming class enemies and serving as experimental vectors someday after genetic engineering and artificial intelligence are perfected.

    Facebook's New World Order

    18 Feb. 2017

Facebook has a CEO who got lucky with one idea in college during the rapid growth phase of social media on the Internet. For whatever reason it was welcomed and Mark Zuckerberg became a billionaire. Now of course he wants to rule the world, or rather, have the political thought of humanity exist within his vast leftist global empire on-line.

    https://arstechnica.com/staff/2017/02/op-ed-mark-zuckerbergs-manifesto-is-a-political-trainwreck/

Actually independence and nationalism are requisite for meaningful democratic politics. Strong national boundaries are needed for the possibility of ecological economic transition to develop from the present non-renewable economics. Change needs to happen in particular areas rather than sort of generally. Zuckerberg would like to form millions of people into little regional groups where they are given appropriate news of public concern. Like the broadcast media owned by the rich those concerns cannot really be in conflict with the way things are.

The Unibomber also wrote a manifesto. He also wanted to change the world to conform to a radical vision. If he had owned Facebook perhaps he would have required humanity to be brainwashed in planetary groups that would support his goals for a new world order.

Mark Zuckerberg should write a few books on environmental economic theory and let the sophomoric approaches to a new world order go.

    http://www.vox.com/new-money/2017/2/18/14653542/mark-zuckerberg-facebook-manifesto-sapiens

Everybody wants to rule the world. Logically the first guys with preferred network locations would want to get in on the action. Facebook would morph like the planet eating blob into an organism containing everyone. All would be subject to Facebook's ability to know what they write as if they were a super-N.S.A. toying with it's prey.

Facebook would become the real political means of being with overwhelming power to raise up or put down those that make the global corporate agenda function more smoothly. As the present media hates Trump now except for some honest reporters like Rush Limbaugh, it would be able to coordinate and promote attacks on political systems anywhere.

Facebook's goal seems to be to move directly to Mussolini's corporatist utopia that failed in Nazi Germany but in a brave new world order might fulfill Mao's ideal state with the central committee being a planetary oligarchy dwarfing even the Chinese Communist Party. It is a logical, evil turn toward the dark side of the force.

Questions of Matter, Space and Gravitons

    18 Feb. 2017

Are gravitons attracted to mass or vice versa? Are there states of mass that do not attract gravitons (such as neutrinos) such that one might say it is in a state comparable to that of monatomic elements?

If gravitons overwhelm matter condensing its implicit forces and structure to a state of matter unique to gravitons; in fact a stable state of mass, it might have finite size. It also might have warped space around it in such a configuration that when released with the monatomic phase of the graviton solid it unfolds with an apparent faster-than-light speed.

    Monatomic elements

    http://www.zptech.net/science.html

Of course gravitons might be something that pushes space. They might be something like virtual particles surrounding a particle wave like a digital field that activates into being briefly then switches off. Gravitons may be embedded within space and when drawn to mass release a certain amount of weight from space taking it to mass.

One wonders about being and nothingness. Smallest particle-waves theoretically like strings or membranes perhaps with virtual fields of their own. It seems though that all particle-wave are emergent characteristics of potential energy unpacking from a big bang-inflation field possibly emitted by the monatomic equivalent state of the graviton solid. Or not.

The idea that a digital field without space is entirely subject to the will of God is interesting.

One-Party Corporate Politics and Non-Sense Policy

    9 Feb. 2017

With Republicrats going about wasting time in Congress deciding how to put the most meaningless pork forward, that is with the fundamental plan to enrich the rich and people in government while impoverishing the poor and stagnating the middle class, some must look to silly non-sense for political hope.

Where will President Trump's first foreign visit be? What about Antarctica where he can choose to ignore global warming any time of year? With luck the President will visit Alaska and declare it an economic disaster zone since it is hemorrhaging jobs.

The Great Wall of China gave Chinese a national sense of identity for a few thousand years. Maybe they would sell it to us to use on the Mexican border. Perhaps Russian troops would patrol the Mexican border since U.S. troops are forbidden with posse comitatus discouragements. Poland could pay for the cost of the troops as a quid pro quo for U.S. troops sent to Poland to protect them from a Russian invasion. Brits and Germans are closer than the U.S. and also in N.A.T.O. Why don't they go to Poland to protect Poles?

    Ecospherically Transitional vs. Crude Economics

    3 Feb. 2017

Americans realize the nature of economics have changed since the Reagan administration. Deficit spending increased as if public debt was no longer consequential. Presently it has reached about 20 trillion dollars. Why has economics changed?

The Nixon administration took the U.S.A. off the gold standard. The dollar was given to float and its value was fly-by-wire based on the generally loose parameters of the worth of the U.S.A. overall. Machines, automation and mass communications along with computers reduced the value of traditional labor. Abundant cheap foreign labor plus cheap illegal immigrant labor drive U.S. labor wages down. Combined with the factors mentioned above herein the tight value of a dollar based on the requirement for human work to get things done in exchange for some real commodity such as gold, ended.

Real economics still exist though. Even in an era of zero-interest loans from the Federal reserve to big banks so they can pile up cash or electronically mint through making their own loans five times the value of loans from the Federal Reserve people keep track of cash and debt. The M0 money supply-the amount of actual cash in circulation is surprisingly small; just 1.2 trillion in 2013 and at least half of that was held overseas.

    http://money.howstuffworks.com/how-much-money-is-in-the-world.htm

So Democrats have simply taken to being a party without much concern about public debt. Free money lets the rich get trillions and wealth was concentrated in the 1% of the richest of the nation. Barrack Obama encouraged people to retire and shrink the reported numbers of the unemployed. The most rich that own the corporate world controlled the media and were rather in-synch with Obama’s tax cuts and free Federal Reserve loans policy. The poor and middle class were let to survive with two jobs, social welfare benefits or retirements since there was a paucity of good new job creation in the U.S.A.

Democrats also encouraged illegal immigration with that cheap foreign labor being equivalent to that of slavery in the ante-bellum south. Working white women that were an important element of the new Democrat party were not laborers and enjoyed cheap lower-class, non-competitive labor that subverted preponderantly just Republican men they regarded as political rivals. The Democrat Party became one concerned solely with race, gender and homosexuality special interests entirely quitting the traditional focus on objective economic class concerns. The new age economics encouraged Democrats to become indifferent about economic class reason.

    http://www.msn.com/en-us/news/factcheck/pelosi%E2%80%99s-false-%E2%80%98wall-street%E2%80%99-denial/ar-AAmxcux?li=BBnbcA1

Transitional economics are needed to fill the gap generated by the decrease of Federal revenues and spending on infrastructure renewal of public works. It is a rather felicitous moment in history where the need for the United States to be a leader and ground-breaker in transitioning to an economy founded in environmental right-reason and sustainability occurs with a concurrent need to correct the new age floating economy to one of sustainability for-itself as a reality check of falling to the ground from the top may be a natural correction for the vast U.S. economy if it continues to pile up debt and let infrastructure rot while degrading the ecosphere.

Any American party that wants to lead with Transitional economics to environmental and fiscal sustainability together also will need to assure the transition is smooth for all of the poor and middle class of the U.S.A. today that may be regarded as just so many consumers that for work purposes have already substantively been augmented by if not replaced by machines, computers and such. A guaranteed minimum income should be made to exist along with medical and housing security while people are intentionally put out of work through regulations that requires economic production to meet new environmental economic criteria (see Daley’s  ‘Environmental Economics)

    https://archive.org/stream/fe_Ecological_Economics-Principles_and_Applications/Ecological_Economics-Principles_and_Applications_djvu.txt

A primary purpose of government would be to bring to business ventures to ‘zoning’ conformity such that there would be obvious economic benefit with low-impact on environment. Competition between business proposals would exist such that the best would be fielded to determine if they would work in the real world.

In the present economy with the Internet perhaps susceptible to moving into de facto oligarchic control of free expression equal to that of the broadcast media eventually, billionaires with very low taxes and a global footing may pay very low taxes and effectively neutralize national democracy and the capacity for democracy to evolve to an environmentally rational, sustainable paradigm. The tension between oligarchy and democracy has existed forever. Plato wrote about it in effect in his book The Republic.

Socrates and friends actually supported an oligarchy in opposition to the Athenian democracy. He was executed for attempting to convert youth to the side of oligarchy. Today billionaires such as Mark Zuckerberg are exceedingly influential and can oppose publicly the policies of a President of the United States with much public support from the rich that own the broadcast media. Lost in the smoke and mirrors is the political opinion of the average citizen. President Trump attempted to speak for that somewhat though he probably lacks any idea of Transition economics with an ecologically sustainable goal. Instead he needs to Trump the frumps of media and European leaders that seek to increase tensions with Russia through Ukraine in order to stop a reduction of military spending for arms manufacturers. The late Tom Clancy had a good idea about the benefits of a close U.S.-Russia relationship in his book ‘The Bear and the Dragon’. The east of Ukraine to the Dnepr should be Russian rather than German or Polish as traditional invaders of the region along with our friends the British have sought to divide and spend.

Plato and Aristotle apparently believed the Demos-or people-are too stupid to make democracy work in the long run. Perhaps that is so, yet people must try though it’s like tilting at windmills, for wind and solar power with energy use efficiency, fuel cells and etc. can go a long way.

    Ideas about Self-Driving Cars etc.

    27 Jan. 2017

How will self-driving cars do on snow and ice? Slip and slide? They would speed up long distance drives continuing when the owner tires. Specialized cars designed to deliver freight could create new business ops for anyone able to buy a unit?

Self-flying drones could let terrorists increase attacks on Mediterranean shipping. Designer viruses could cull the planet's people leaving only Hollywood personnel alive. The bio-apocalypse clock must be a few seconds from midnight? The D.N.A. brave new world is of recent vintage and a greater danger than fusion packages for life on Earth capable of writing.

    Science as Relative, Conditional Truth

    12 Dec. 2016

Maybe science is relative truth, and conditional. One cannot demand that science produce absolute truth after Einstein's transcending implications of the general and special theories of relativity brought physics to the door of an ocean of temporal change. Science need correspond subject to predicate, word to object, probabilities for predictive behavior etc. to create practical functioning truths. Science or knowledge need be accurate, functional and practical to work or to have credibility. It is a use-truth describing appearance and content so far as possible with verification rather than an inference or intuition about deeper explanations. Science is a mechanics rather than a faith.

I think no other century has or will develop philosophical logic and epistemology so much as did the 20th. In the 20th century linguistic philosophy developed through the Vienna Circle and with the rise of symbolic logic started by Frege continuing on to Strawson, Quine and Kripke it was possible to comprehend the nature of meaning and meaning of epistemology along with subjective ideas about it. Prior to the 20th century philosophical advance the history of philosophy might be found best in a few giants from pre-Socratic philosophers to the Attic philosophers Socrates, Plato and Aristotle, early scientific philosophers like Pythagoras and Democritus to theologian greats such as Augustine and Confucius on to Thomas Hobbes, Rene Descartes, G.W.F. Hegel, David Hume, Bishop Berkeley, Immanuel Kant and a few others.

As I mentioned above though, science need only confirm it's theories on reasonable logical grounds rather than exhaustively and exclusively of any other explanation. Conditional and relative truths that are logically consistent with their premises may be the best of scientific certainty about reality that is possible. The epistemological grounds of knowledge; human knowledge, is not absolute or infallible and is immersed within a physical media of being it cannot view from outside as a flying fish might regard the ocean in which it swims.

    Correcting Inefficiencies of Capitalism

    13 Dec. 2016

If there is implicit structural inefficiency in contemporary capitalism is it possible to innovate a remedy? Capitalism applications have different forms in differing economic circumstances, levels of sophistication and so forth some being more practical than others. Capitalism presently has a bias toward expensive means of production limiting the potential number of product producers, and perhaps requiring substantial capital investment. If one could invent a universal hat-making machine easy to make at home it would put hat makers and related hat making supply industries out of business. The market is biased against most-efficient, lowest cost methods of production. The market runs against the present ecological-economic drive toward lowest-entropy economics as a principle of environmental conservation.

Traditionally in classical economics there has been analysis about market efficiency. With high-speed quantitative trading today that works with cold-blooded machine-language analysis efficiency of abstract values for instant speed-of-light dark pool exploitation the concept of market efficiency also means eliminating the human element from business and moving toward a version of Adam Smith's capitalism evolving to consolidation of power for the sake of power. Even so, capitalism has an innate bias against inventing the lowest cost way of production such that it would virtually be open source.

Modern capitalism increasingly favors expensive means of production with rare limited entry producers such as makers of computer chips. Transforming common goods into rare and expensive goods for political control is good sense although corrupt. Though mass production lowers cost and a corporation produces immense profits social economic development moves toward capital investment in businesses that benefit from investment and become more specialized and rarefied in production moving even beyond few existing rivals. Alternatively technologies that produce goods at very low cost and require little public investment are avoided. Inventors are disincentivized to search for such product inventions with no rewards for producer efficiency. There is an implicit bias toward expensive means of production and products that allows a class hierarchy to form unifying government and corporate political power.

When a dichotomy develops between producers and consumers on the basis of corporate hierarchies gathered about an exclusive, costly production industry democracy obviously dwindles. Though planetary masses may be drafted into becoming employees and affiliates of the costly production corporations the efficiency of capitalism suffers. When political power is taken by economic powers of capitalism even the potential for finding or inventing low-cost and efficient open source means of production dwindles. In such a deformed variety of capitalism anthropogenic entropy increases abnormally quickly.

Capitalism that has created de facto corporatism and concentration of wealth through networking and that does not use principles of ecological economics is existentially unresponsive to national and global interests. Uncreative minorities that concentrate wealth and power are repressive minorities of necessity. In a post-18th century high-tech version of capitalism that is a universally available method for all citizens because of the willingness of society to finance ecologically and creative business models there is no need to seek security within rarefied social strata of wealth. In an ecologically sustainable national context that is synergistic of global interests security and ambient lifestyle independence and satisfaction would be common facts. Capitalism that is over-concentrated is inefficient and a variety of reforms should be enacted to relieve the economic state of affairs from a networked business structure running toward universal plutocratic business monopoly.

Creative Destruction of Capitalism Destroys the Ecosphere 2

    20 Dec, 2016

Joseph Schumpeter is credited with coining the term 'creative destruction of capitalism' in reference to the change of economic infrastructure from industrialism to post-industrial tool-kit. That creative destruction has the side effect of destroying the planet's ecosphere as a bi-product or externality. Plainly stuffy capitalism as ecospheric vishnu defenders need to destroy their own ideas about what capitalism is and adapt to a post-trash-the-ecosphere new way of capitalism.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Creative_destruction

Environmental economics that are adaptable to present national and global challenges require intelligent design of political parameters responsive to meeting the challenges to the synthesis of social economy and ecosphere. Capitalism in its present evolutionary form is demonstrably inadequately responsive to challenges of habitat loss, mass species extinction, global warming, oceanic pollution and dislocation of economic and physical security of the citizens of the U.S.A. and world. In theory capitalism with intelligent design parameters established politically would better work to satisfy political and consumer needs.

Mass media sycophants of concentrated wealth and power get news feed from government and corporate releases largely. Reiteration of ethics values of concentrated wealth form the bulk of the political socialization of the masses encountering the mass media, hence those values of evolutionary capitalism instead of capitalism under the direction of intelligent design gather together like a pelaton in a distance bike race riding through ecospheric and economic eschaton waiting to crash down upon them like a spring-loaded hyper-Maxwell’s hammer.

Plainly one wonders if the Federal Reserve can print up money to buy U.S. bonds and issue zero interest loans to large banks as a permanent feature of the U.S. economy without causing hyper-inflation and devaluation of the value of the dollar. Another potential problem is the large number of dollars held abroad in relation to the quantity held by Americans-will Americans be able to afford to live in their own nation if they aren’t part of the 1% in the future?

    Present Obama had nine major policy achievements in his 6 years;

1-Obamacare for corporate power instead of expanded V.A. system networked with homeless clinics

    2-Queering the federal government

3-Making Bush tax cuts for the rich permanent

4-Getting anarchy started in the Middle East

5-Forming bad diplomatic relations with Russia and Germany

6-Running the money printing presses copiously without causing hyper-inflation

    7-Hiding inflation

8- Killing the date expired (ten years) Osama Bin Laden

9-Building more public debt in one term than Pres. G.W. Bush in two

It is the last policy that is remarkable and a cause for wonder. It seems as if a new age of economics has arrived long after Nixon took the U.S.A. off the gold standard; the Federal Reserve can just issue more money to buy U.S. bonds and fund the cost of government and make zero interest loans to large banks- free money effectively so the rich can buy up global business opportunity. There must be some unintended consequences for that-I just can’t say what it is.

    Renewal with Alternative Infrastructure (revised)

    20 Dec. 2016

    20 Nov. 2014-edited 19 Dec. 2016

Instead of replacing horse infrastructure with more horse infrastructure ancient car supporting politicians renewed infrastructure for cars. Instead of renewing car infrastructure it is time to move on to something better-maybe electro-magnetic platforms.

Politicians often talk about infrastructure renewal in their campaign rhetoric. They say that the national infrastructure is in decay and need of repairs. It is true that many of the vast number of Herbert Hoover era public works are somewhat aged and that water pipes and electrical systems may be of venerable status while the Eisenhower interstate system was founded more than a half century ago. Even so the infrastructure most in need of renewal or replacement is the ideas that politicians have about national infrastructure.

Politicians generally want to just throw money at somewhat creaky systems and renew it as if it were a Model T that needed rusty fender and spring replacements. Instead they should be thinking about new transportation forms that don't need ancient infrastructure paradigms at all. Infrastructure is a consequence of past economic development. New infrastructure should replace old infrastructure that supports new economic development.

It would be possible to produce much more national electricity off the present grid with hydrogen fuel cells in home and neighborhood. It would also be possible to relocate much manufacturing to the United States with 3-D printers of a somewhat industrial scale. What would be useful to stimulate development of new ideas would be education and coordination of small teams of materials designers able to encode patentable ideas in materials and computer coding designers able to encode the product material design in digitalized data code ready for printing. Ideas made in America could be produced in America and around the world without need for material import or export.

Patents should be valid just 7 years with royalties to inventors after that from anyone manufacturing the item of a few percent, in order to stimulate progress.

With new electrical and material production infrastructure it would also be useful to generate new ideas for transportation infrastructure that aren't based upon concrete or asphalt highways and fossil fuel internal combustion platform networks. Faster, cheaper electro-magnetic linear accelerator platforms under and above ground could let existing road be torn up and made into new wildlife corridor infrastructure for bioethical continuity.

Sewage infrastructure might be replaced with some sort of particle beam disintegrator facilities of sludge, or microwave or heat incineration of biowaste in newer infrastructure reducing the requirement for extensive wet transport of piss and poop.

It is perhaps only one of the most endangered national infrastructures; water, that would require not only renewal of existing infrastructure but increased protection extending to renewal of natural watershed infrastructure as well as water storage and transport infrastructure above and below ground.

It would be desirable if politicians contemplating national infrastructure renewal considered ecological economic upgrades as well, if they could get a grasp of what ecological economics are academically speaking. As it is some of the few politicians considering the renewal of democracy infrastructure with a reduction of the corrupting vast divide between the average annual earnings of rich and poor may talk about investing in infrastructure renewal to create jobs but what they really mean is to through hundreds of billions down into the money pit of ancient infrastructure and ancient economic practices that today tend to support globalism more than American national economic interests..

With a Presidential primary election campaign year ahead one must wonder if either major party has anyone with good ideas or any sort of technical economic competence planning to run. Many Republicans want to be another Ronald Reagan-yet what year is this?

Democrats seem rather daft an interested mainly in homosexuality, drugs and illegal alien amnesty to get more cheap labor and votes. Of course President Obama did consistently stimulate Syrian conflict with a demand that the lawfully elected President quit-and that gave the green light to the rise of ISIS, so maybe they can accomplish things other than giving zero interest loans to Wall Street.

That raises the final point here; is the economy really healthy? What happens if Republicans or Democrats shut down the Fed Reserve free money printing for Wall Street? Is Wall Street so badly evolved in relation to natural resources that it has no ability to exist on its own? Tune in to the next episode of decaying national infrastructure to find out

    Chess Patterns, Recognition misc.

    20 Dec. 2016

A paradigm for patterns is formed with fuzzy logic implicitly.  Beginning players moving toward intermediate see numerous patterns that are known as 'openings' that repeat. Then there is the pattern of the scholar's mate, people that use positional play, or advance a pawn to A5 hoping to use it for that dirty accomplice with the Queen for a mate eventually. Patterns are simply a recognized recurrent form, or alternatively, a non recurrent form as unique as a snowflake yet within a generalized recurring context.

Defining the color 'red' for example, was something that Bertrand Russell tried in his essays in metaphysics, yet epistemological issues and subjectivity developed later in the 20th century brought awareness of the difficulties in assigning particular meanings to words inflexibly such as one might experience with Platonic forms or Platonic 'realism'. Kripke and Quine developed slightly different ideas about names and necessity, neo-Platonism vs. nominalism regarding words, with Kripke arguing pro- neo-Platonism where meanings assigned to words had at least a minimum of lasting meaning while Quine was on the nominalist side. In that paradigm words have use meanings that can be lost over time.

I guess a fair example is politics. One party says night is day, right is wrong and good is evil while the other side differs taking alternative viewpoints on the same issues. Red for example, could mean green in one context, or cotton candy in another. Quine thus argues for word ontologies or lexicons with given meanings that cannot easily be translated into other ontologies, or at all actually. Ontologies may of course be shared or as in a multi-dimensional Venn Diagram share common elements though not all with a Universe of three-ring paradigms.

I agree that 100,000 patterns is quite a few to learn, yet it is possible that one need only learn larger patterns and not all of the specific branches or modifications within the larger pattern. I would think its comparable to being a general historian wherein one learns something about everywhere and tries to fill in the detail so far as possible about Russian history, Chinese history, U.S. history, Latin American etc. without knowing the name of every
