    About the Author

I have known Nick since he was a young boy and have watched his growth – both physically and spiritually – with incredible amazement. Unlike most young men, Nick was never able to run around and play, but he has never let his disability interfere with his goal of getting to Heaven.

Nicholas was born on the West Coast of Canada and moved to the Gulf Coast of America with his family in 1999.  Born physically disabled with Spinal Muscular Atrophy, Nicholas spends most of his days in a wheelchair. He has a deep love for God and never hesitates to preach the Gospel with a conviction that is lived out in his daily life.  Nick graduated from Grade 12 with top honors and he is a self - taught web designer, an Internet researcher, and one could say that he is also a theologian in the rough.

On November 17, 2007, Nick was professed into the Secular Franciscan Order and is an active member in his local Secular Franciscan fraternity, and in his local parish of St. Helen. This booklet on the Sacraments is just another expression of Nick’s love for God and for all God’s people. I am both honored and blessed to have this occasion to introduce you to the author of this booklet that is being made available to you today.

    Dedication

I dedicate my meditations to the Eternal Word Television Network (EWTN), to Father George Sammut of the Pensacola-Tallahassee Diocese, and to Monsignor Michael Reed of the Pensacola-Tallahassee Diocese. I will always be eternally grateful to EWTN, and my two spiritual fathers for teaching me the truths of the Catholic faith.

    Introduction

The purpose of this book is to provide prayerful reflections for each of the seven sacraments.  According to the Baltimore Catechism, a sacrament is an outward sign instituted by Christ which brings forth sanctifying grace[1].  The universal Catechism of the Catholic Church, which was promulgated by Pope John Paul II, goes even deeper by stating that the Blessed Sacrament is the greatest sacrament, and that all the other sacraments are ordered to it as their end.[2] Since the Catholic Church is one Church, located in many nations, with
