Insane Observations
The street light out
In front of my house
Has some sort of
An electrical problem.
One moment there is
A soft light filling my room.
The next moment, my
Room is plunged into darkness.
What if it had meaning?
Like each time my room
Was plunged into darkness,
Someone in the world died.
Or when the soft light
Illuminates my room, a
New baby entered into the world.
In two days, I received news
Of two deaths.
One, my friend’s father.
The other, a co-worker;
A friend; young and beautiful;
One I silently desired.
I don’t fear death or dying.
But I fear that I cannot
Bear to witness those
Who have left our world.
I realize that it is because
I fear the showing of my emotions.
I have decided that
There is one word in
The English language that is
Worse than the seven dirty words.
Such as the four letter word
Referred to as the F word.
At least two people were having
Fun when it was first created.
But this word is worse.
It is offensive to me
And it should be more so
For those who seem
To use it the most.
It makes me sick, and I
Am tired of hearing it.
This may offend some
And I apologize now.
But the word is nigger.
"Nigger this. Nigger that.
Nigger who? Nigger you."
It seems to me, and it’s sad,
But it has turned into the
Young Black Man’s Anthem.
On the lighter side of things.
I ran into this guy at work.
He recognized me from
High school back in San Jose.
The funniest thing is
That I didn’t recognize his
Name until two and
A half-hours later.
Hidden Memories
I ran into this girl
That I met in college.
(In San Jose, where else?)
It raised some feelings
And memories that I
Really didn’t know I had.
Me and a friend of mine
Met her at about the same time.
We were both out to
Get her attentions.
In the end, as always,
I lost out.
But being the kind
Of man that I am,
I conceded my defeat;
And all three of
Us remained friends.
Meeting her again
Made me feel things
That I didn’t know I had.
I guess that as time
Passes, things and feeling become clearer.
The truth about that time
Is that I saw long before
I conceded that I would lose.
I denied it, and when it happened,
I was deeply wounded and
