Let’s start with the obvious: what is luck?

The Oxford Dictionary will tell you: Success or failure apparently brought by chance rather than through one's own actions.

There are certainly enough myths, fantasies and lies about luck that it is easy to dismiss the whole thing as a scam or a delusion, people waiting for a miracle or seeking something to blame for their problems. You would be tempted to say that it is all false. And yet, for some reason, luck appears in every human culture in history, across all ages and lands. Every place where humans lived there has been talk of luck, and why it favours some people and ignores others. It is such a crucially important factor that many Emperors and Generals lived their lives in accordance to the principles that bring good luck. The Art of War, the most important book on strategy of all time, mentions luck and how to have it. Napoleon Bonaparte was a great believer in luck. General Douglas MacArthur agreed with him.

Luck is incredibly important in life. Unsuccessful people blame it. Successful people get there because of it. People in between just… ignore it.
