Chapter 1 Introduction
Introduction to Industry 4.0
For centuries, goods (such as cloth, food, house) were made by human hands or with the help of animals. By the beginning of the 18th century, manufacturing began to change dramatically with the Introduction of Industry 1.0.
Figure 1.1 shows an overview of the evolution of Industry 1.0 to Industry 4.0. It shows Industrial evolution, beginning from water and steam-powered mechanical production in the 18th century to the 21st-century Industry 4.0 evolution using advanced technologies for manufacturing.

Industry 1.0 – first industrial revolution
``Water and steam powered mechanical production. First power loom, 1784.’’
During the 18th century, water and steamed-powered machines helped us to mechanize some of the work our ancestor did. This is called Industry 1.0.
In 1784, the first weaving loom was introduced (see figure 1.2). Using such machines, production efficiency and scale were increased. Small businesses grew from serving a small number of customers to a large number of customers, crossing geographical boundaries. This era is also called as the beginning of the industry culture, which
