    At the age of thirty I became a Christian. Like most converts my search for God was triggered by a crisis. What exactly it was is of no real consequence, suffice to say that the telling of that particular story is best suited for a date around Halloween and a lot of prayer back up. How I discovered the truth about Jesus is however extremely relevant and is what I would recommend you tell the seekers that the Lord sends your way. That, briefly, is the purpose of this book, to equip you for those close encounters of the God kind. The first questions are likely to be asked by non-believers while the later ones are more likely to come from those believers, new to the faith.

    How then should we prepare for such a task as this? Simple, ‘Read the Book.’ Shall I say that once more? ‘Read the Book.’ There are ministers out there who have not done so but I do not want you to follow their example. You should know the Word of God the way a soldier knows their rifle or a musician knows their scales. By reading 2-3 pages a day you will get through the scriptures in about one year. That is what I did in my approach to God. Admittedly it was like trying to make a jigsaw without the picture on the box to tell me if it was a windmill or a sailing ship but nine months into my task the lights came on and I was saved. I had started at Genesis and ploughed my way through adventure stories, strange dietary customs and all that small print that the lawyers added to the Ten Commandments. After that lot Matthew’s gospel was like an ice cream on a hot day. Here was God walking among men, not far away in Heaven but here in the thick of it.  When I finished Revelations I immediately started again back at Genesis. This time I had
