    Chapter 1 - Dr. Frank

The pollution index clicks over to lethal as Tiffany and Barbara make their weekly rounds of the galleries. Art is a matter of personal taste and can be very expensive if yours is the same as the rest of the minion. Today Tiffany is looking for something bouncy yet firmly grounded in the classic style, and more importantly, something in her price range. She has been ducking into the galleries for the last four years, after her long legal dealings to be separated from her lover left her with low self-esteem and an aging bust line. The galleries present a perfect escape from the humdrum world of accounting and Tiffany always looks forward to the weekend for the experience.

The two women stroll along the cobblestone sidewalk. A quaint gesture supplied by the government, hoping the romantic aspects of the sidewalk would stir the sentiments of consumers. Tiffany adores the sidewalk, taking extra slow steps and dragging her heels, as a child would drag a stick along a fence. Barbara's running description of her Uncle's birthday party on the weekend fell on deaf ears as Tiffany explored her reflection passing from store to store. The tilt of her head was all that was needed to view a different perspective of her new hairstyle. They approach the next stop on their list. They had read about this gallery in the weekly paper and were looking forward to the visit.

Tiffany views the images before her, vivid colours reach out and grab her like the stunning pink of candy floss she remembers as a child. She asks Dr. Frank about bruising and estimated time of recovery. Dr. Frank refers her to the computer monitor in front of her.

There is minimum bruising in this particular procedure. These are definitely you, just imagine walking down Venus beach with these. You'll have to fight them off with a club.

Tiffany's eyes stand transfixed on the computer monitor in front of her. An image of her with breast augmentation is displayed.

Tiffany consults Barbara with a sheepish grin. I must confess they are the best I have seen this month. I'll talk it over with my personal trainer, can I have these on disk? she asks Dr. Frank

Dr. Frank nods and begins to copy the information, thinking all the while that Tiffany is just another one of those Beverly Hills window shopper types who always give him just enough interest to waste his time.

I'll include some new liposuction picture files. You would be amazed at some of the advances made in that area. Dr. Frank added as he continued to download the information on to a disk.

With the Plastic surgery boom of the early 90's long gone, and with more government restraints, the bulk of Dr. Frank's market had gone the way of the illegal back-alley implant rooms, which are strewn along the back streets of Watts and China Town. Every day, it seems, the horror stories of infection, body tissue rejection, and silicon leaks dominate the health publications. Popular thought has the Cyber-Hips backlash as the main reason for the growing number of implant rooms. Universities ran out of money and government grants dried up, hundreds of thousands of students tuned in, dropped out and declared war on the establishment. Years of unchecked spending by the baby-boomers created a deficit that will be on the heads of at least 10 generations, and the Cyber-Hips movement, seeing no recourse, in a wave of unparalleled proportions, stood down and
