From the Silence - Scott Ross
From the silence
The warm wind blew peacefully...steady and incandescent, full of tranquility and unceasing energy. It is this way… that the wind travels to make music to the ears. We all know the melodious harmony the reeds of a wind chime can make. It seems this wind has a will of its own to make this melody. A melody of deep gratitude and joy for being a part of life. It is this melody that makes creation want to share. Like a song that is intertwined within us, sounding in everything. A song that is going and going. This song brought life to the Meadow.
Wake up…wake up... it is time for you to become!
a voice calmly beckoned from the boy’s mind.
Life stirred within. The boy sat up straight, took a breath, and opened his eyes. In this moment the child was overcome by joy! Endless lands lay before him. This place felt deep and familiar…something he loved. It was perfect and beautiful. The vastness did not frighten the boy, all the child could do was feel joy and peace.
He rose to his feet and gazed upon the skyline. On the horizon was a bright rising Sun. It was blazing red, heat waves surrounded the brilliant light. The waves fluttered through the air like distant rains, soaking the beautiful world around him. Before his eyes lay a vast sprawling of tall and short grass. The Suns vibrant rays glared down upon the fields, creating the illusion of a blanket of gold fluttering in the wind. Infinite green trees towered above, surrounding this blanket of gold. It was as if the boy was in the eye of a giant dragon.
This boy did not know the names of anything. He enjoyed this new world for the way it looked. Everything in the Meadow had its own unique way of speaking to him. The boy felt close to everything. A child in the Meadow.
Several animals were drinking from a stream nearby. They filled their mouths with the life water, drinking deeply from the river. He spent the whole day following these animals along the stream of life.
The boy knew his name, Priomon. But he did not know how he awoke in such a place?
Two large animals drank from the river, eyeing the boy cautiously as he crept towards them. These animals lived in the grass lands of the Meadow. They had never beheld such a creature before. It had no fur like them. This creature stood straight up. The grass animals watched as the child began to drink from the river as they had done.
By that evening Priomon felt something in his stomach, drawing to find sustenance or the weakness in his body was going to overcome him.
It was so much better when the Sun was out this morning!
he thought to himself.
The shiny blue stream of life seemed so far away now. Hunger grew within Priomon, causing his body to feel even more distraught. Strength was fleeting him and he could not find food. Priomon decided to go into the Forest to find something faster. Hunger took over and he began desperately running through the Forest in search of food.
The Forest felt different for the boy, he did not pay attention. The child had left the Meadow to take from the Forest. Further and further Priomon wondered and found no food. He began to feel something he did not understand, fear! Fear he would die in there. When the boy felt this emotion, he suddenly heard a thunderous crash from the thicket and brush surrounding him. A huge yellow beast came charging from the foliage. It had a fearsome head that seemed to be on fire. Teeth like the large stones in the Forest. It roared so loudly and shook the ground in pursuit of this fearful creature that had entered its home.
Priomon ran so fast, breathing and fighting sharp pains in his side, tears streamed from his eyes! He ran with all the force in his being to get to the Meadow where he had awoken. The Sun was going down now, and the boy ran faster and faster. From something terribly powerful he did not understand. In his mind he was sure it would kill and eat him. Something within him knew to get to the Meadow.
When Priomon broke clear of the Forest the terrifying beast was no longer after him. To his delight, there was a group of beings in the center of the Meadow. They looked to be the same beings as he was! This excited the boy in ways he did not understand. There were ten children in the Meadow. Himself, four others like him, and five beings that were as beautiful as the Sun and the Forest.
Bleeding and out of breath, he ran to them. They were all taken aback by this boy. They felt his fear from whatever chased him out of the Forest. The Sun was going down, animals in the Forest began to stir. Each child curiously inspected one another. These children did not talk, they showed emotion and shared a desire to know one another. On the first night, the children laid together under bright lights in the sky. These children of the Meadow felt safe.

Under the bright lights of the night sky love was shared. The children slipped peacefully into dreams during their first cold night together. Morning greeted them with the Sun. It was shining on their faces. These children loved, and adored the brilliant light and warmth it gave them. The night too, had held something that made them feel peaceful together. The boy smiled to the others with eagerness, and a deep desire to touch them. They also felt this desire to touch the others. The morning hours of that day were spent looking and absorbing the presence of one another.
My name is Priomon
but the boy did not speak words, no! It was his heart and body thundering this feeling and understanding to the others. He stood tall, and smiled at them with love and curiosity. He would like to know them as well. Each child proudly stood and shared their hearts:
My name is Kabriama
the second boy’s heart was fair and just. Kabriama stood tall, and proud. He had dark skin like the night, and deep brown eyes that reminded Priomon of the Forest.
My name is Setriah!
the third boy shared his name like the wind. Strong and true.
He was tall, proud, and very intelligent. With black hair, tan skin, and bright blue eyes. It delighted him profoundly to share his name, as if he were performing!
My name is Romti
the fourth boy sang a song from his heart, it was beautiful. It sang like the flow of love between all of them. Romti was a very kind boy. Smaller than all the rest. Romti wanted to share the song in his heart, with the song in their hearts. The others felt his strength and love. Romti was here to prosper.
The final boy stepped forward and jumped as high as he could. When he landed, his heart thundered:
My name is Ramti!
He was bigger than all the others, his skin was white, like the clouds of the day, and his eyes were as blue as the midday sky. He laughed so loudly and smiled.
Priomon noticed the five other beings. They touched his heart, like the Sun had when he awoke in the Meadow. All of the boys were staring at these mysterious beings they did not quite understand. Their gentle hearts were quieter, and strong. Each boy noticed how these beings emanated a deep love, like a giant ocean. They can surely help us to explore this place!
Priomon felt that in his heart.
These elegant beings of gentle love stepped forward to share their precious hearts. Priomon sat, for he was taken by all of them. He
