About this ebook

The poems in this little book were primarily intended for use in Neopagan Druidical rituals, but there's no reason others shouldn't enjoy them, and perhaps find them pertinent to their own spirituality. I wrote most of them for submission to the ADF Bardic Guild Study Program in April through September of this year. A preliminary limited edition of five copies was prepared for ADF’s 2013 Eight Winds Festival, held in July 2013 at Trout Lake Abbey in Washington state. This second edition contains a few additional poems written after that date.

    WELSH SONGS

    A Song for Môn

The Druids are gone. Fair Môn now lies destroyed,

her oak groves burnt, her standing stones cast down.

Her empty fields hear but the endless sound

of sighing winds, where once her folk enjoyed

their festivals with chanting and with prayers

and sacrifices given to their Gods.

Where warriors danced, and poets came to laud

their courage bright, now only the high stars

and sun and moon look down, remembering

her fruitful past. Yet winter yields to spring:

Môn is not lost while still one poet sings,

and turning time her Druids back may bring.

Gweddi i’r Gwydion / An Invocation to Gwydion

    Canmolaf nawr ar y Gwydion

roedd yn fab y Duwies Dôn.

    O’r hen feirdd a’r chyfarwydd

Yn y byd yn orau roedd.

    Hob-ysbeiliwr, gwron cryf

    gan ei hudlath a’i gleddyf,

    llun-symudwr, derwydd doeth

ac o’r Lleu yr unig dadmaeth.

    Clywch, Gwydion, yng nghân felys—

Dewch i ni nawr o’ch llys.

    (I praise now Gwydion,

    son of the Goddess Dôn.

Of the ancient bards and the lore-masters

in the world, he was the best.

    Swine-reaver, strong warrior

with his wand and with his sword,

    shape-shifter, wise Druid

    and of Lleu the foster-father.

    Hear, Gwydion, my sweet
