My knees shook as I watched my brother, Juancho Roces, pointed me to Dr. Robert Lauren, his billionaire boss. The tall billionaire in his late mid-thirties looked at me and his hazel brown eyes dried my throat. He did not look thirtyish. He had broad shoulders and chest that almost ripped his undershirt. His eyes were round and big. His nose had a straight bridge and he had thick lips. He was not as white as many men I had met since I came here yesterday. He was tan and sexy – like he was ripped from a Mexican soap opera.

Robert looked surreal for a twenty-year-old poor girl from Veracruz, Mexico like me. Everything about his house and his presence felt like a fairy tale, but it was not. For the truth is, my brother, Juancho, sold me to him for a green card.

I need to know first if you are telling the truth, Robert told Juancho.

An heir giver. That was my role in Robert’s life. My brother said that he had been through four divorces. Two of his ex-wives bore children, but they were not Robert’s children. Juancho had explained everything to me before he asked me to come to California. My job was to bear Robert’s children and then, he would leave me. Of course, I will receive payment and be able to stay in America as a citizen. But there was a condition. I would never leave Robert’s mansion until I bore his children. Robert was afraid that I would cheat and bear another man’s child instead of his. Until I bear his two heirs, I would remain as a prisoner in his mansion. I can only go out when he will allow me.

I had no intention to abandon my future children, but I refused to return to my life in Veracruz. My father was a drunkard and he would probably sell me to a drug dealer where I would be enslaved. A baby maker for a billionaire was a thousand times better. I could still see my children even if they would not know that I am their mother. My children would have better lives than I ever did. They would live as billionaire heirs and not as some drunkard’s children.

Still, the thought of living my children scared me. It would be the cruelest sin in the world. It should be in the top ten commandments in my opinion. No parents should abandon their child. Two years is a long time. Many things could happen. Robert would see me now only as his baby maker, but I could change that view. If I could show him that I could love him and be faithful to him, he might fall in love with me. We could fall in love with each other and
