Chapter One: SMOOTH TALK GONE WRONG

There are times when words fail you, when you look for words to fill in the blank, make the situation less awkward or less horrid but you can’t find any. For me this was it. And it was quite scary. I had lived my whole life knowing what to say, having quick comebacks to every joke and knowing exactly what to say when I meet up with girls. You see, I considered myself a fine pickup artist; a believer in the usage of words to please girls and make them swoon in my direction.

I always knew what to say at all times. In fact, my best friend Chris kept a chart of all the girls I’ve had an encounter with so as to read them on my wedding day in case by some divine miracle I fell in love and settled down. I considered that trite as best friends go, but Chris enjoyed his tally.

But here I was, staring into the prettiest eyes I had ever seen, and I didn’t know what to say to her.
