    PREFACE

During the struggle and afterward it was my custom to give a copy to every bride whom I married. After the war closed, I married a young woman and a young soldier still in the uniform, and when I gave her a copy, there came a funny little grin on his face. He dug down into his uniform and brought out a soiled and dog-eared copy, which he had carried across with him.

Several times on the way across, submarines attacked, but the transport escaped. Often he went over the top with The Armor in his pocket. Often when resting, he said, one soldier would read it to as large a group as could hear, then they would pass it to another group. He declared that something about it gave him the feeling of safety, and he went through the great adventure and returned unscathed.

There is so much of real value in the message that we preserve it substantially as first published, but we herewith work out the principle of Protection to apply to all the needs of life.

Humanly speaking, we expose life to as many vicissitudes in everyday life as it was ever on the battlefield.
