Larry, my husband, and I reside in Mount Airy, North Carolina. I have one son. My two sisters are the best friends anyone could ever have. They are my best allies and encouragement supporters. They are my most precious jewels.Due to the Covid issues, I am not presently working at Floyd's Barber Shop in downtown Mount Airy, best known as Mayberry, NC. Known from the Andy Griffith Show that ran from 1960 through 1968 and the hometown of Andy Griffith. We get thousands of people annually in the small, quaint town and we love our visitors, whether just looking or getting an actual haircut. We would love for you to visit us. As far as working, we'll see how long this virus takes hold.I love doing many things: writing, reading, drawing, sewing, jewelry making, barbering, woods, photography, making soaps, creams, butters and more. I never find myself bored and life is a story regardless if it is verbal or in type.I am a Cancer survivor and thanks to Jesus for His supporting hand during a difficult period. Thanks to my husband for standing firm beside me through the ordeal. We turned my cancer into a positive situation and kept an upbeat attitude. Cancer affects an entire family, not just the victim. For those out there with cancer or those who have been through it, cancer is not the end and you're never alone. You never know what touches others. This could go either way; good or bad. But through writing you are able to express and hopefully bring a little entertainment to others. It only takes a word to make a person smile and you never know when a word could pick someone up who is down. We do not have to be authors in its truest form of the title, but do what you enjoy and if it is writing, then enjoy when you do it. Thank you Smashwords for giving thousands of people the opportunity to voice their thoughts through self publishing. It's fun and easy to do. The hardest part is self editing. Locating errors can and will be your hardest part in self-publishing your books. Don't let that stop you! If you have stories that you placed high on that top shelf years ago, it is time to get them down and march forward. Never allow anyone to tell you that you can't. We may never be known other than to ourselves, but do it for yourself and because of your love for writing. Thanks to all of you that have downloaded samples or purchased downloads of my books. You are appreciated. If you have any encouraging words or simply want to point out (my text errors - because they are extremely hard to find yourself), please feel free to contact hurn5262@yahoo.com. Please leave a response in Subject line regarding the story or it will not be opened. Be blessed, Jesus loves each of you very much. Take care!

The Christmas Carriage
The small town of Destiny was positioned high in the snowcapped mountains of North Dakota. A picturesque town that was unrivaled for its majestic beauty.
During the period from middle August until the end of January, the townspeople felt as though it was the closest you could get to a picture-perfect Christmas holiday.
People moved in and people stayed! That was just the way it was.
Although generations back, the land belonged to the Indians, but then one small parcel of land made its way onto the books and that parcel of land became known as Destiny.
It was a town where people felt as if their destiny had brought them there to live. Although the town was small in scale, it had about anything you could hope or wish for in living an amazingly comfortable life.
Sherry Gaylor was the Mayor of Destiny. She had held that position for several years and with each passing election, she remained the dutiful Mayor that she was. It was as if she was the only tool in the shed, and the people had no interest in a change. As Mayor, she got the job accomplished.
Destiny was magnificent with her rolling mountains. She had flowing streams that were so clear that you could literally drink from them. The rivers that flowed down between the two mountains carried with it phenomenal fishing. The land also had several great hunting areas and hunters loved that. Huge parts of the land were ultimate hunting grounds, especially for Grouse, Pheasants and Waterfowl. The official state bird for the state is the Western Meadowlark and for fishing is the Northern Pike, known as ambush predators.
When the last census had been taken the count for Destiny was just over the five thousand number for its residents. Of course, give or take for the growing number of new arrivals and babies being born. All age groups and nationalities made up this quaint yet sought after town where the land seemed to reach right into the heavens.
It may have been fate that made Destiny a place in time where, oddly enough, its people seemed to get along very well. But then, when you are small, everyone knows everyone!
The crime rate for Destiny was never an issue for Mayor Sherry. People respected one another and if you looked beyond the average fender benders and such, there was not much to report.
Homes were pleasantly spaced apart on all streets and avenues throughout the town and the mountains. Two major condominiums had been built on the road going toward the airport. The country residents enjoyed their land and all that it had to offer too. For Destiny, it seemed more like an exceptionally
