About this ebook

English:
Coriland: The Forbidden Town is a fantasy that contains several messages.
It teaches us to overcome our internal fears and to trust who can help us in the face of adversity.
It teaches us not to belittle the native communities, in this case, the Amazonians, who have a different lifestyle but who struggle day after day to conserve their lands and culture.
It warns us of the care and protection of the jungle. In recent years, it has lost more than two million hectares due to the afforestation of its forests; this has caused the harpy eagle, blue macaw, black caiman and other species to be in danger of extinction.
Illegal mining has contaminated much of the Amazon River with mercury, affecting public health, as well as the fish, reptiles and other species that live in it.
Calling us to awareness… What can we do to save the lung of the world?

"If man’s greed and hunger for power

    Because of gold, were exterminated,

There would be fewer rivers infected with mercury-

    nowadays,

    Fewer deaths

and we could save several endangered animals.

Rescuing our jungles, the world’s lungs".

    (Illari Sunkuyuq)

"Si la codicia y apetitos de poder del hombre

a consecuencia del oro fuera exterminada,

hoy habría menos ríos infectados de mercurio,

    menos víctimas mortales

y podríamos salvar a varios animales en peligro de extinción.

Rescatando nuestra Selva, el pulmón del mundo".

    (Illari Sunkuyuq)

This adventure began when we went to the jungle with my father due to his job, he was a great engineer.

Carrying my brother, Rafael, in her arms, my mother and I walked along a path filled with very beautiful plants, surrounded by a river that seemed never-ending.

Mommy, why is there a giant wall in this area?

There’s a sign here that says: ‘Forbidden to get close. Danger’!

    Dangerous to what, mommy?

Adriana, it says: ‘Excessive mercury pollution’.

    What’s that mother?

"You’re too little to understand, bu

t it’s a very dangerous chemical. Let’s go somewhere else!" she told me.

Great curiosity aroused in me that day, how could such a beautiful place be so
