Tea bags are made from broken or bruised tea leaves, which lose their aroma and oils because they are damaged. This undoubtedly compromises the quality of the tea when compared to loose leaves. Teabags releases tannins when brewed, so that gives it more of a bitter taste than loose leaves. Loose leaves have a fuller flavour because leaves are allowed to open and breathe, releasing flavours and aromas. The loose leaves preserve its freshness, giving you a better-quality tea all round.
