About this ebook

Love comes with its own fair share of challenges. For these two sweethearts, it is no different. When Amy leaves home, there is a lot of speculation on her whereabouts among the people of Wood Hill. Jason, her boyfriend, is left without a goodbye or even an explanation from her.

For Amy, being forced to leave her family home and hometown by her mother was one painful pill to swallow. Not being able to see the love of her life while hating his guts because of his betrayal was difficult and painful. So, the trip back home for Christmas would be a walk down a painful memory lane for her.

After also being left by the love of his life, Jason develops a playboy façade that helps him get through his days without Amy. He is unable to love another woman, even when all he feels for her is hate and animosity. Not knowing where she was and why she left soon after he received his scholarship led him to believe lies about her whereabouts and who she was with.

There was a lot in store for them both when they arrived home for the holidays. They were keeping a secret that bound them together that neither was willing to talk about.

Amy and Jason show a deep connection to each other that was formed from an early age. Through them and other characters, the book comes to life bringing a coexistence into its plot. The role of the antagonists is well-described by the author by a representation of their relationships with the main characters.

Through twists and suspense, the plot of the story comes together in a beautiful harmony that intrigues and captivates both the readers and characters to unveil the secret kept so well. Prepare yourself for a hot and steamy story of betrayal and adult desires.

    Chapter 1: Amy

    Happy holidays to you, Amy.

Amy Byrne waved back at one of the few friends that she had made in college. The buzz in the lecture hall rose as the students marched out. The joy of going home for the holidays filled the room.

Everyone, except Amy, was in a euphoric state. She was surprised when she got a call from her mom the day after Thanksgiving asking her to come home for Christmas. It had been three years since she stepped foot in that house, and she did not want to go back now.

Amy sighed and dragged her woolen jacket closer to her chest. There was a light dusting of snow from the previous night, and the wind was chilly. Winter used to be her favorite time of the year, but she no longer looked forward to it. After her first Christmas alone with her grandmother, the holiday hadn’t meant anything to her anymore.

Ignoring everyone else, Amy strolled out of the campus. She walked down to the bus station with her headphones in both ears. Behind her, Susan Raines was calling out to her, but Amy couldn’t hear her over the music. A smile curled the corners of her lips when she saw the first friend that she had made in her freshman year.

Hey Amy, Susan said as she drew closer, are you going back home or heading out of town from here?

I’m going home. I leave for Arkansas tomorrow, she replied.

Susan frowned and said, You are lucky you get to go home for the holidays. I’m stuck here by myself.

Susan had no idea why Amy didn’t want to go back home for Christmas. Amy wanted to tell her, after all, she was her closest friend, but she kept her mouth tightly closed. Susan didn’t know much about her life in Woody Hills, and Amy wanted to keep it that way. Everyone she knew in Missouri, aside from her grandma, only knew that she was from Arkansas and had a family there. Susan asked about her past a few times before, but after seeing Amy’s reaction, she stopped and changed the subject whenever it came up in conversation. Amy was always grateful for that.

Amy didn’t want her friend to feel sad about not being able to go home, so she offered her a small smile and shrugged. Susan was going over to her boyfriend’s house for Christmas Eve dinner, and she was nervous about meeting his extended family. Susan was an outspoken person, a polar opposite of Amy, and she needed everyone to like her.

The bus pulled up, and she waved goodbye to Susan.

Let me know how it goes with your boyfriend’s family when I get back,

I will. Have a good time in Arkansas,

    I’ll try.

Amy climbed into the bus, scanning her bus pass. She said, Hello, to the driver and settled into a seat in the back as a heavy sigh escaped from her lips. The bus drove down the slushy streets. White snow turned brown from the traffic. She gazed out the window at the mountains in the distance. They were partially hidden by storm clouds that seemed to be an omen for her upcoming trip home.

She got off the bus when it stopped around the corner from her street and walked the rest of the way to the small cottage style house where she and her grandmother lived. Grandma Maggie would be waiting for her with a hot cup of cocoa, as she always did, whenever it snowed.

When she received the phone call from her mom, Amy thought she was hallucinating. She wanted to spend Christmas in her grandmother’s small farmhouse in Missouri, where she had been for the last three years. She didn’t want to go back to her hometown in Woody Hills, Arkansas.

Amy moved in with her Grandma Maggie after her junior year of high school. Grandma Maggie was a kind woman with short, grey hair and small glasses on a chain around her neck. She was
