About this ebook

Camille

Living in a small town was never part of my plan. I was born to live in a big city and take over the publishing world. I've always marched to the beat of my own drum. When my mother told me I was fat and needed to lose weight, I proclaimed that I was perfect just the way I am. I set my sights on the top magazine in New York which was run by men high on testosterone and low on sense. After introducing my knee to the nuts of a man who didn't know how to respect women, I found myself without a job, licking my wounds in a small town and plotting my next move.

That's when I met him, Dane Toro, a man so hot and gorgeous he came with a warning label. I was told to stay away from him, that he had a dark past, and couldn't be trusted. The problem was I'd had a lifetime of doing what people told me not to do. Why would I make an exception for the sexiest man I'd ever seen?

Dane

Perhaps a small town wasn't the best place to hide from my past. When family obligations demanded I stay on Pretty Molly Bay, there were times when I thought I'd lose my mind. Then this sweet curvy distraction walked into my business with the same mistrust in her beautiful eyes as half the town. I was willing to plead my case to her. I soon learned that I would do anything for Camille and that mouth of hers.

Growing up, I didn’t dream about being a writer, mainly because I didn’t know I could become one. I fell in love with books to the point where they became my friends, going everywhere with me like a trusted side-kick. So I still find it amazing that I can actually write books which hopefully will become treasured companions to other readers. I love writing sexy paranormal romances and I hope my stories will provide readers with a wonderful escape into a fascinating world with characters they will care about.

The click-clack of my heels on the concrete would’ve been a warning to Declan Macaw if he’d had a lick of sense. I didn’t have much either since I didn’t consider the consequences of marching into the office of the senior writer at Mogul Magazine with his article clenched in my fist. I was nothing but a lowly sub-editor; so thankfully, I did collect my senses enough to knock on his door instead of kicking it down like I wanted to do.

I heard a barked Open! I turned the handle, opened the door, and walked in. Declan sat with his feet up on the desk talking on the phone.

    You finish with me, babe?

He smiled and I desperately wanted to slap that greasy grin off his face. I slapped the copy of his latest story onto his desk.

My job is to proof your article, not write the damn thing for you.

He removed his feet, sat up straight, and glared at me. I did write the article. Now do your job and make it pretty, just like you.

This article is so badly written that I’d have to rewrite whole sections to make it Mogul-ready.

Declan shrugged his big shoulders. So what’s the problem? Isn’t that what you get paid for?

I leaned over his desk but quickly straightened when his eyes went straight to my ample chest. My white shirt was usually buttoned to the top, but having to do Declan’s work once again had made me hot under the collar, and I’d loosened two buttons while I’d stewed in my cubicle. Now I realized my mistake and the lecherous look in his eyes only made me even angrier.

The problem is that I earn a measly salary to correct your work, not write it for you. I swear you don’t even try anymore. If I have to do all the work, I might as well have a big office where I can put my feet up.

Declan’s watery hazel eyes turned hard. You think you do all the work because you can string a few sentences together? I go out and charm these rich and powerful men to sit down and talk to me and that is something you could never do because your social skills are non-existent. Those big tits are totally wasted on you because you always have your head between a book instead of between a man’s legs, or a woman’s. I don’t care as long as you use that pretty little mouth of yours for something other than bitching about a job you should be happy to have.

I closed my eyes and counted to ten. I’d done a lot of counting in my three years at Mogul, the number-one business magazine in the country. I’d moved to New York City from Santa Monica, California to study at Georgetown University. Then, armed with my master’s degree in journalism, I’d set out to change the world. Getting a job at Mogul had combined my creative and business sides and set my feet on that first rung of the ladder toward one day having a similar magazine for women. Mogul, like the business world, was still very much male-dominated and I’d never been given the chance to prove myself with a major feature, even though I was routinely writing the features for a few of the men with bylines. I was sick of it, mad as hell, and I wasn’t going to take it anymore.

Besides, Declan had no idea where my head went once I left the office. He just assumed that since I had too much hips and thighs for him, no other man could handle me. His words didn’t upset me on that level. I knew that there were plenty of men who liked thick women like me, and even though he was degrading me with his mouth, I was sure his dick didn’t discriminate. He upset me on a visceral level because he was just a nasty son of a bitch who needed to be put in his place.

I leaned over the desk again; completely uncaring if a little bit of skin was showing. If you ever speak to me like that again, I’m heading straight down to HR, I hissed.

Declan laughed. A fat fuck like you should be down on her knees thanking me by sucking on my cock just for sexually harassing you.

I was so shocked that for a few minutes, I couldn’t even move. I’d been teased in grade school for being heavy; however, it had been easier to forgive nastiness in children.  In high school, I’d
