About this ebook
George loves to go to the science museum. So, when he finds out that the museum is planning a “Green Day” dedicated to recycling and planting trees, George is curious and wants to help out! But little monkeys eager to help can sometimes become little monkeys getting into trouble. When George begins to find and recycle things around town that aren’t quite ready for the recycle bin, he gets into a jam.
Thankfully, George isn’t the only one who wants to help. The whole community can’t wait to lend a hand—and help George and the museum plant some trees!
Originally published to coincide with the opening of the Margret & H.A. Rey Center in Waterville, New Hampshire, a model for energy conservation offering literary, educational, and other programs, this book also includes kid-friendly tips for helping the environment.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5The Rey’s once again create another great Curious George story with Curious George Plants a Tree. This story helps children to learn the big events going on in our world. I don’t feel that some children understand the concept of “going green” and the Rey’s create a great way to tell the children just what “going green” means.Curious George has been a loved character for years. Children can relate to him in many ways! George is a just another kid but he’s stuck in monkey form. George has been on many adventures and children love reading of his crazy life and how much mischief he can get in to.In Curious George Plants a Tree, children learn how to plant their very own tree. They watch George learn how our environment is affected by everyday waste life. George then learns about how he can help the environment. As he decides to help he collects everyone’s recycling that is really their own personal property. The children go through the journey of George’s process in going green and see that one person can make a huge difference. The end of the book has a list of things that children could do to make their lives more green. I feel that this would help the children in thinking how just one little thing like writing on both sides of the paper could effect the environment. The Rey’s have been writing Curious George stories for years. They have been forever loved and used in many households and classrooms. Children find George as just another version of themselves. The Rey’s create a character that most anyone can relate to and sympathize with. George has been on many adventures since his beginning in 1982. The Rey’s continue to show us that George has forever remained a kid and continues on his adventures.Any Curious George story is a blessing to have in the classroom. George goes on so many adventures that can be used throughout the classroom. This story of planting a tree helps to show kids the idea of going green. I feel it’s a great story to read to the children and to recommend sending them home and coming up with their own ideas of how they can go green in their everyday life.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This book is great to teach a lesson on trees. It offers a story that explains why trees are important for our environment. It has a diagram to show the importance of trees, explaining that trees put off oxygen in which humans breathe. The story also shows the importance of recycling and reusing paper, to save the trees which in turn save the environment.
