FOREWARD
Our family has baseball in its DNA and we have for generations. My grandfather played baseball. My father played and coached baseball. He passed his passion for the sport on to his sons, starting with me. My earliest memories of baseball are playing with my dad on the front lawn when I was about five. He would consistently and intentionally work with me by:
Playing catch
Working on my swing
Hitting grounders and pop fly balls
Practicing base running
He did the same with my two younger brothers. He taught us focus, discipline and a winning mindset. The result?
Kenny played and excelled in Varsity baseball and football in high school.
I was the Captain of three sports in high school – baseball, basketball and football and led the State of NJ in hitting with a .595 batting average. I received full scholarships for football and baseball to Northwestern University and was drafted for baseball twice.
Jeffrey received a full baseball scholarship to Stanford University, where he was a two-time All American, represented the U.S. Olympic Baseball team, was the 4th pick in the 1st round of Major League Baseball Draft and went on to make the 2000 MLB National League All-Star Team!
Between the two of us we were drafted four times. I was drafted by the Seattle Mariners and Pittsburgh Pirates. Jeff was drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays and Baltimore Orioles. I went on to play Minor League Baseball for three seasons before a career-ending injury forced me to stop. Jeff went on to play Major League Baseball for five teams over 13 seasons.
This level of success in one household is a testament to my Dad’s commitment and dedication to give his three sons the
