Chapter 2

Creator-Creation Distinction

CREATOR-CREATION DIFFERENCE IS ALL ABOUT THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE INHERENT ESSENCE SUBSTANCE OF GOD AND THE OUTWARD ORIENTED EXPRESSED ENERGIES OF GOD. REVELATIONS OF GOD SUCH AS TRINITY AND JESUS ARE THE MANIFESTATIONS OF THE VERY ESSENCE AND SUBSTANCE OF GOD. God is a personal being who self-subsists as the supreme personal reality. Often we know about the essence of God because we experience His energies, just as we know the sun through its rays. The divine energies denote the self-manifestation of God through His actions. GOD DOES NOT CREATE THE ENTIRE WORLD OF CREATION FROM HIS ESSENCE, BUT BY HIS ENERGIES. THE CREATED ORDER DOES NOT MANIFEST GOD’S ESSENCE BUT ONLY HIS ATTRIBUTES. God’s energies are infinite and they cause creation by God’s own sovereign will and not by any external compulsion. We know God through His creative operations in the world.

GOD IS A SPIRIT PERSON. THE ESSENCE AND SUBSTANCE OF THE GOD PERSON IS: SPIRIT, LIGHT, LIFE, TRUTH, POWER AND LOVE. God is a spirit and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth (Jn 4:24). This statement means that God is totally a Spirit and only a spirit. God is immaterial (not of matter), invisible, alive and person. He is not limited or bounded by material issues or concerns. God is not subject to matter in any way. God is not made of matter. God created matter and employs it however He desires. Hence God cannot be accurately, rightly and truthfully represented by any created thing or any man-made image. Hence the Bible considers the attempt to create such a representation is blasphemous (Ex 4:4-6). As God is SPIRIT, He has no limitations of matter and is not bound by the material and spatial restrictions. A spirit may inhabit a body, but a pure spirit does not have to inhabit a body. Jesus said again after His resurrection: A spirit hath not flesh and bones as ye see me have (Luke 24:39). Consequently, man is never spoken of as being a spirit while he inhabits the body. He is said to possess a spirit, but, when his composite nature is described, he is said to be a living soul (Gen. 2:7; 1 Cor. 15:45) rather than a spirit. GOD IS LOVE: Love is that demonstration of God's character by which He voluntarily commits to give Himself to always seek the highest good of others. God’s law of love intertwined in universe. He that loveth not, knoweth not God; for God is love. (I John 4:8). God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in  him. (I John 4:16). Love is the giving of oneself to meet the needs of another. The fact that God is love does not invalidate punishment for sin. God’s holiness and justice demand that all sin must be punished. But God’s love provided a plan of the redemption and salvation for the sinful people. The ultimate demonstration of how much God loves every one of us is Christ dying on the cross for us. It was the love of God that He appeared in Jesus Christ to take up the punishment of sin on the cross: For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life (John 3:16).  GOD IS LIGHT: 1 Jn 1:5: This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. God who alone possesses immortality and dwells in unapproachable light, whom no man has ever seen, nor can see (1 Tim 6:16). GOD IS TRUTH - Everything that God says and does conforms perfectly to ultimate reality. God’s knowledge, declarations and representations eternally conform to reality. Everything that proceeds from God is true. Because God is true He can be fully trusted. GOD IS LIFE: Life is inherent in God Himself. He is the sustainer of all life. He is the giver and taker of all life. He is not an idea or principle, but a living being.

Chapter 3

God is One Person

GOD OF THE BIBLE IS THE ULTIMATE IDEAL SUPER-PERSON - INFINITE INVISIBLE SPIRIT. GOD IS ONE IN PERSON AND SUBSTANCE – INFINTELY INDIVISIBLE INVISIBLE TRANSCENDENT IMMANENT ETERNAL SPIRIT. AN IMPARTIAL EXAMINATION OF THE ESSENTIAL ATTRIBUTES OF GOD WHICH ARE EXPLICITLY AND DIRECTLY AFFIRMED IN THE BIBLE CAN SUFFICIENTLY PROVE TO THE NORMAL HUMAN MIND THE MOST FUNDAMENTAL TRUTH THAT GOD IS ONE IN PERSON AND SUBSTANCE. God is one invisible person, infinite and eternal without beginning and without end, who reveals himself in person to man. God is the great I AM THAT I AM who is perfect in himself. God is love perfect in Himself without needing anything or anyone for him to be perfect in all things. He is able to do anything by himself. God is the original unrevealed God person, the true invisible Godhead. This supreme God is immutable, unaffected by any of his actions such as creation or redemption. But in accordance with His own sovereign plan, God can reveal himself in diverse manners. In the like manner it is probable that God revealed himself as the Yehovah revelation which in turn provided for many Theophanies or God appearances including trinity. The eternal God is not constrained by time in any sense, and is not affected by past present future dimensions of time. Hence a working definition of the eternal infinite supernatural spirit God cannot be simple and understandable for the finite natural beings. HEB 1:3 - GOD IS THE ULTIMATE PERSON Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high: THUS THE BIBLE REVEALS GOD AS A PERSON OR EVEN MORE THAN THAT IF THERE IS EVER A HIGHER LEVEL THAN THAT, MAY GOD BE THE SUPER PERSON. Person is the highest and most desirable form of existence. God self-subsists as a simple supreme personal reality. Everywhere in the Bible we read: God loves; God says; God does. Every essential thing that we attribute to a person can be attributed to God. God feels, thinks, loves and forgives. The Bible declares that God is a holy and righteous being. IN THE GODHEAD OR IN THE VERY ESSENCE OF GOD THERE IS ONLY ONE PERSON. God is numerically one person (Deut 6:41 Tim 2:5). God is a spirit. The essence, substance or basic quality of God is spirit. The Biblical term Godhead is used three times in the Scripture. "Forasmuch then as we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Godhead is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, graven by art and man's device" (Acts 17:29). GODHEAD IS USED IN REFERENCE TO THE SUPREME GOD. "For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse (Rom 1:20). Col 2:9 In him [Christ] dwelleth all the fullness of the Godhead bodily. Col 1:19, God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him [Christ]." This does not exclude fact that the Father is also fully God or the Holy Spirit (the Helper) is fully God.

GOD IS ONE PERSON AND THERE IS ONLY ONE GOD IN THE BIBLE – BOTH IN OT AND NT. The Bible never speaks about 3 gods. And the Christians never believe in 3 gods. Christian faith is second to none in its monotheistic commitments. The Bible is consistent in its claim of monotheism, and has the most prolonged history of opposing polytheism, more than any other belief system. The oneness of God is a foundational doctrine in the Holy Bible. NOT EVEN NUMBER ONE IS AS ONE AS THE ONENESS OF GOD, WHICH IS AN INFINITELY SUPERIOR ONENESS. Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one (Deut 6: 4; 4: 35, 39; 32: 39). Jesus himself also recited it. Mark 12:28-30 Which commandment is the most important of all? Jesus answered, "The most important is, ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; One Lord, one faith, one baptism, One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all. (Eph. 4:4-6). THIS VERSE EXPLICITLY STATES THAT THERE IS ONLY ONE ALMIGHTY GOD. "You believe that God is one. You do well; the demons also believe, and shudder (James 2:19). GOD IS ESSENTIALLY HOMOGENEOUS UNDIVIDED AND INDIVISIBLE. God does not consist of parts, nor can He be broken down into various parts. God is one, and the only one. That all the people of the earth may know that the Lord is God, and that there is none else (Kings 8:50). Apart from Him there is no God. That there is but one God is furthermore taught by Deuteronomy 6:4; Isaiah 44:6; John 17:3; 1 Cor. 8:4; 1 Timothy 1:17.

THE HISTORICAL TRACK RECORD OF THE TRUE GOD IS VERY IMPORTANT. The track record and historical relevance of the God candidate and truth claim is of utmost importance. Most credible kind of God is the one who has a historical involvement, claim to have created mankind, loved and cared for the mankind to such an extent that He even died for them. Such a maximum involvement is found only in the case of Jesus of the Bible. It is not the case of just sending a messenger for dying on the cross but God Himself appearing as a human being and dying on the cross. Mankind needs such a loving, kind, almighty, eternal, miracle working, forgiving, patient, sin problem solving God view. This is most worshipful kind of God. Hence Jesus is simply peerless.

GOD OF THE BIBLE IS THE HISTORICALLY MANIFESTED TRUE LIVING GOD. The Biblical God is the true living God. He has manifested Himself throughout many centuries of history with powerful miracles and consistently progressive revelations.  He is not a mere word in a book or a bunch of philosophical arguments and speculations.  He is a living almighty person manifested in powerful actions.  He is the infinite divine person who has provided revelations since the dawn of human history.  He is light.  He is life.  He is alive.  He is infinite divine love.

THE MOST PROLONGED CONSISTENT HISTORICAL REVELATION OF THE BEST GOD PERSON IS IN THE BIBLE AND HENCE THE ONLY TRUE GOD IS THE GOD OF THE BIBLE. ONLY IN THE BIBLICAL CHRISTIAN FAITH THAT THE PERFECT CHARACTER OF GOD IS REVEALED. THE CHARACTER OF GOD IS OF SUPREME IMPORTANCE IN DETERMINING WHICH IS THE TRUE GOD. The nature and CHARACTER OF THE GOD candidate is even more important than the nature and CHARACTER OF THE TRUTH CLAIMS or even any other subject thinkable to mankind. The nature of God whom people believe is of primary importance. Thinking correctly about God is of utmost importance because a FALSE IDEA ABOUT GOD IS IDOLATRY. God reproves the wicked man with the accusation: You thought I was altogether like you. (Ps 50:21).

AS GOD IS ONE PERSON, THE PLURALITY OF GOD PERSONS CAN ONLY BE ABOUT THE REVELATIONS OF THE SUPREME GOD. GOD IS A ONE SINGLE PERSON. God is not an impersonal force, essence or principle but a divine rational being who desires to communicate and commune with His creation. He is I AM WHO I AM or the eternal one. God as spirit is also a person. This concept is the best antidote to the pantheistic belief systems. God is a personal being in all his dealings with us. There is only one God, not three. The Bible reveals that Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are the way the one true God of the Bible is revealed during the creative and redemptive age.

THE QUESTION OF WHAT IS A PERSON AND WHAT ARE THE QUALITIES AND ATTRIBUTES OF BEING A PERSON, IS ALSO VERY SIGNIFICANT Though no one can give a perfect definition of God, person etc we can give reasonable descriptions about them. A person is a being who can express his intentions in words and acts. Person can respond to the words and actions of others. With person we can have relationship. And every person desires relationship. So is God. The Biblical ideas sin, reconciliation, forgiveness, salvation etc are clear expressions of these truths. A person exists and has identity; He is aware of his own existence and identity; He also recognizes the existence of other persons. A person can choose, decide, intend, plan etc. A single person cannot have two separate and distinct wills at the same time on the same subject. Separate wills imply separate persons. Person is a living being having the spirit soul and body with intelligence, conscience, consciousness or self-awareness, will and moral self-determination etc,. Man can never make a person through science.

GOD IS AN INFINITE UNLIMITED SUPER PERSON. BUT THE YEHOVAH REVELATION OF GOD HAS 3 SUB-PERSONS. GOD QUALIFIES AS HAVING PERSONHOOD IN THAT HE EXISTS, IS SELF-AWARE, HAS IDENTITY, USES TERMS SUCH AS ME, I AM, MY, AND POSSESSES A WILL. SO THE SUPREME GOD IS ONE PERSON. GOD IS ONE PERSON FROM ETERNITY TO ETERNITY. GOD SAYS I, IN THE BIBLE. YEHOVAH SAYS WE, LET US, IN THE LIGHT OF THE TRINITY REVELATION AS FATHER SON AND HOLY SPIRIT.  The Bible does not say God is a person or 3 persons. But He says He is one and refers to I He We. All the usages in the Bible about God give us the feeling that God is a person like humans, but infinitely superior in qualities. Personhood is the highest state of identity. Man is in God’s image and hence man is a person.

MAN IS A LIMITED FINITE PERSON AFTER THE IMAGE OF THE INFINITE UNLIMITED GOD PERSON AND ALSO AFTER THE IMAGE OF THE TRINUE REVELATION OF THE GOD PERSON. THAT IS WHY THE ONE PERSON  MAN HAS A TRI-PERSONALTIY OF SPIRIT SOUL AND BODY. Man is in the image of God. God in his tri-personal manifestation created the tri-personal being man. Man is in the image God, means that man is a person after the personality of God. But God is a super person. Man is a lesser person with a God kind of spirit inside man. Even though we don’t understand how man is one, we acknowledge man as one person.

PERSONHOOD OF GOD THE SPIRIT. God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth (Jn 4:24).
