    WE HAVE LOST OUR HISTORY

It was just before noon on April 25, 2015, in the city of Kathmandu, Nepal. Suddenly the ground began to shake. A huge earthquake struck. It was strong enough to be felt in neighboring countries, such as India and China. By the time the quake and its aftershocks stopped, thousands of people had died. Most buildings there were not made to withstand earthquakes. They collapsed. Many historic monuments in Nepal, some hundreds of years old, crumbled into dust and piles of brick.

    FACT

Several million earthquakes take place each year. But many are too small to feel or happen in very remote places. Only a small percentage are strong enough to cause damage.
