Was Slavery Beneficial? A Black Man’s Perspective

About this ebook
Dr. Ben Caron says, “Actually, slavery was the best thing that could have happened to us. Because of slavery, blacks were brought to America, we met the Christian faith. We met Jesus Christ. If it were not for slavery, we would all be in Africa, hanging from trees and worshipping Allah. God always gets it right!”
How can it be possible that most painful experiences on this earth could have actually benefited those who suffered and their ancestors? How can a black man even consider slavery in anything close to a positive light?
In this revolutionary book, John Jocelyn answers these questions and more by taking a good, hard, realistic looks at the institution of American slavery and its impacts. Though it was extremely brutal, he argues, slavery brought humanity together and showed the Love of Christ to an entire race.

Introduction
Without a doubt, slavery was a painful experience. Those who suffered through it were subjected to some of the worst circumstances that humankind has ever known. Nonetheless, the depth of this pain sheds a unique light on the human race and our current position in this world, similar to that created by the extreme brutality of the Holocaust.
The truth is that man is able to face his own cruelty, and yet at the same time we were forced to face the greatest test of humanity by forging a new nation of brotherhood. In fact, without the institution of slavery, the great country that is the United States of America would not exist as we know it today.
In the following pages, I will argue a contentious point. Slavery was a tool employed by a higher power to forge this amazing nation and to spread the Word of Christianity. If our ancestors had never been brought to these shores, we would have never known the American dream or the Love of Christ. The wisdom of the gospel pushes us towards a better life.
The allure of hate is broken. Love is given a greater voice. Jesus Christ suffered on the cross, and the price that our ancestors had to pay for us to realize these benefits was huge. We cannot let their sacrifices be made in vain.

Chapter 1:
The Greater Good
I’m sitting at a party. The party is for a tall African American gentleman who weighs around three hundred and fifty pounds. We’ll call him Ted. He is massive, the type of individual who would be a football player if he had any athletic abilities. On this occasion, we were there to celebrate his birthday. His wife, kids, and all his friends beam with a happiness. They are there to show their appreciation for
