    CHAPTER ONE

    Mia Stone slid her coffee cup off the kitchen counter and made her way to the front porch. Mia loved the quiet hum of her neighborhood. She slid deeper into the plush cushion of the rattan armchair and rested her feet on the ottoman, enjoying the wisps of steam curling over the rim of her coffee mug. Her journal and pencil rested on the small table beside her. Mrs. Branson, her elderly neighbor to the left would be joining her shortly for their daily cup of java. The feisty older woman had been the first to greet Mia when she moved into her ranch style home a year ago, and now after their morning routine of Mia’s journaling and Mrs. Branson’s bible reading, the gesture continued. Thinking of her neighbor, Mia smiled and settled into writing her thoughts, feelings and to do list. She always started with what she was grateful for and then followed with her affirmations for the day. 

    Thirty minutes later, the last line in her journal was complete. Mia looked at her watch. "Hmm, Mrs. Branson is usually here by now. She glanced across her yard, a moving truck was backing up to Ms. Branson’s house. She’s not moving, is she? Mia placed her journal
