Babette Wieland is the third of five children born to working class parents on Long Island. As a registered nurse with a masters degree from Columbia University, she has over 30 years of medical and mental health nursing experience.Dad was a mechanical engineer and mom was a nurse. Her older sister became a nurse, Babette became a nurse, her younger sister became a nurse, and one of her brothers even married a nurse. Her entire family embraced the healing power of humor as both a lifestyle and communication tool. Despite living in different cities they continue to laugh at and with each other on a regular basis.In addition to using humor in her nursing practice, she has a talent for rewriting song lyrics for special occasions, and has been ruining classic tunes since 1987.
