Here we are:  Quarantined for Deliverance

Who would have believed it? Who would have thought that in the year of the Lord, 2020, the governments of the whole world would be quarantining their citizens, or in the least advocating and enforcing it, for the Lord’s deliverance? While many would disagree with my stated purpose, but one clear fact that remains undisputed is the fact that all governments and citizens of the world are without doubt helpless in the face of a rampaging Corona Virus pandemic that has taken the world by storm. Even scientists are scampering for any possible remedy, which has remained elusive. It takes only the eye of the spirit to discern the true picture of events, whether the pandemic is self-inflicted or purposeful. Whichever way, there could be only one possible and authentic solution provider – Adonai, who is capable of providing answers to all mysterious occurrences in the history of humanity.

At such a time, humanity is in need of men and women who are close to God’s heart. These are the ones who could receive revelations from the maker of the whole universe who declared, And I will give thee the treasures of darkness, and hidden riches of secret places, that thou mayest know that I, the LORD, which call thee by thy name, am the God of Israel (Isaiah 45:3). What a treasure to receive an antidote to Corona Virus pandemic! Better still, what a treasure to receive complete deliverance from the LORD, the maker of heaven and earth!

In this book, we will examine the current global pandemic, Corona Virus, from Christian perspective, its origin, consequences to human kind, lessons learnt and our preparedness to deal with such global pandemics. The good news is that we now have list of targeted prayers every man and woman can pray to overcome such cataclysmic scourge. It is becoming very necessary for targeted prayers to overcome Corona Virus scourge. Now is the time for the body of Christ to arise and shine, for the glory of the LORD has come upon His church (Isaiah 60:1).

Corona Virus Pandemic: History and Global Data

While no one can authoritatively point out clearly, at least for now, the real origin of Corona Virus, whether it is a manmade weapon or natural occurrence, we all can only relate to its outbreak in one of China’s industrial hubs, Wuhan. By November 2019, it appeared no one had noticed that a deadly pandemic had broken out in China until a Chinese doctor, Dr. Li Wenliang, an ophthalmologist at Wuhan Central Hospital, broke the news.

Dr. Li was working at the center of the outbreak in December when he noticed seven cases of a virus that he thought looked like Sars - the virus that led to a global epidemic in 2003. The cases were thought to come from the Huanan Seafood market in Wuhan and the patients were in quarantine in his hospital.

On 30 December, he sent a message to fellow doctors in a chat group warning them about the outbreak and advising they wear protective clothing to avoid infection. What Dr. Li did not know then was that the disease that had been discovered was an entirely new Corona Virus.

Three days later, after sending a message to warn his fellow doctors, Chinese police paid him a visit and made him to sign a letter. In the letter, he was accused of making false comments that had severely disturbed the social order.

The letter read, We solemnly warn you: If you keep being stubborn, with such impertinence, and continue this illegal activity, you will be brought to justice - is that understood?

Underneath in Dr. Li's handwriting is written: Yes, I do. He was one of eight people who police said were being investigated for spreading rumors.

At the end of January, Dr. Li published a copy of the letter on Weibo and explained what had happened. In the meantime, local authorities had apologized to him but that apology came too late.

For the first few weeks of January, officials in Wuhan were insisting that only those who came into contact with infected animals could catch the virus. No guidance was issued to protect doctors. But just a week after his visit from the police, Dr. Li was treating a woman with glaucoma. He did not know that she had been infected with the new Corona Virus. Dr. Li tested positive to the deadly Corona Virus.

In his Weibo post, he described how on 10th of January he started coughing, the next day he had a fever and two days later he was in hospital. His parents also fell ill and were taken to hospital.

It was 10 days later - on 20th January – that China declared the outbreak an emergency. Sadly, Dr. Li Wenliang, who was hailed a hero for raising the alarm about the Corona Virus in the early days of the outbreak, died of the infection.¹

The World Health Organization (WHO) declared Corona Virus a pandemic a Public Health Emergency of International concern on 30 January, 2020. Numbers of confirmed cases and deaths are rising by the day. Here is the latest information as released by WHO.²
