About this ebook

The best laid plans of gods and men go awry on…  the Blue World.

Loosely based on Zecharia Sitchin's Earth Chronicles, The Blue World follows the efforts of the Sumerian gods, the Anunnaki, as they land on earth to mine the gold there in order to repair the damaged atmosphere of their home planet, Nibiru. The Anunnaki miners find gold mining laborious and dangerous, so they genetically engineer a hybrid race to do it for them. Mixing Anunnaki DNA with simian, they create The Human, "those who work."

And it came to pass, when people began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them, the sons of God saw that they were fair; and they took wives for themselves of all that they chose… Genesis 6:2

seen through the viewscreens normally filled Enki with awe, but now it seemed chaotic and foreboding. He sat alone on the bridge of the Mother Ship as it sped toward the Blue World. It was a mining planet and the most distant outpost of the Anunnaki, an ebony reptilian race, the most powerful race in the universe. Upon arrival, they would descend and Enki, first-born of their king, Anu the Great, would take over as Commander-of-Operations, an assignment he had not wanted. Enlil, his half-brother, would be his second-in-command. Although Enki was first-born, he was born of Anu’s consort, while Enlil, second-born, was born of Anu’s wife. This contributed to the never-ending competition between them for title, favor, and their father’s love and respect. The forty-eight other Anunnaki going to the Blue World were the first cloned set sired by Anu, and his pride and joy.

Enki recalled a report on the Blue World he had once viewed with other Anunnaki. A beautiful gem, one of his brothers had said afterward, our treasure trove. Perhaps we shall go there one day.

Perhaps, Enki had said at the time. But, he had thought, hopefully never, for he had heard enough stories of the Blue World to dissuade him―stories of the cold at the poles, the fetid jungles at the equator, and the violent storms.

After Enki’s sixty years on Sithera, his last command, he had wanted to return to his home planet of Nibiru. But he had been ordered to relieve the Commander on the Blue World and take over the supervision of the mines and the gardens of Eden. Enki was surprised that his father had chosen him. Perhaps it was Enki’s training as a biologist that had led Anu to put him in command. It was imperative that the gardens flourish and produce so the Anunnaki would remain healthy enough to work the mines. Enki frowned. He had been honored, but he knew the appointment would further acerbate his uneasy relationship with his brother, Enlil.

Enki felt the ship begin its deceleration. His brothers began entering the bridge and taking their seats. Along with them, he watched the tiny spark that was the Blue World grow and grow until it filled the viewscreens. Enki and the others stared at the frozen rocky barrens of the planet’s southern axis slowly scrolling by on the screens. After they’d seen the entire orb, Enki took his six lieutenants into the boardroom. Once more he went over the details of their assignment and the protocols that Anu and the Supreme Council of the Anunnaki had established for those who served on the Blue World.

Enki and his lieutenants, engineers, technicians, priests, and military officials would live at the temple complex above Eden and at the camp compound at Shuruppak. They would take over the operation of the gardens and the mines. They were not to interfere with the many lifeforms there.

The skrell were the most notable. A protected simian species, they were physically small, about half the stature of the Anunnaki. They were wary of the Anunnaki and not considered a threat. Although they had vocal cords, they were incapable of speech and were low in intelligence. However, they provided amusement with their antics and sometimes wandered through the lands surrounding the Anunnaki compounds and mining camps. Some were kept as pets or specimens for scientific study. The skrell had a lifespan of forty Blue World years. In contrast, the Anunnaki, due to their knowledge of science and nutrition, had long ago eliminated death due to sickness and aging and were, in essence, immortal, except, of course, for any of them unlucky or foolish enough to suffer a catastrophic accident, like wandering into the blast zone of a transporter or starship. The Anunnaki also had the ability to go into a state of deep hibernation for over nine to-the-tenth culpi of time in order to survive periods of total deprivation.

The overhead lights began flashing, signaling that the time had come to descend. Enki and his contingent boarded the transporter. All wore their distinctive, black Shao capes. The Shao, from the planet of the same name, were a race of forest-dwelling bipeds that were worth less than their own hides, which were extremely pliable and comfortable, with excellent insulating properties.

The engines sighed and the transporter gently glided out of the brightly lit bay of the mother ship into the blackness of space. Enki wordlessly looked down upon the world they would live on. They would have to adapt, and in some ways it would be difficult. He frowned as he glanced at his officers. They all wore serious expressions, no doubt thinking similar thoughts. Nevertheless, Enki told himself, he and they were Anunnaki, and he was sure they would all acquit themselves well. For the
