UNDERSTANDING MORALITY
A man’s ethical behavior should be based effectually on sympathy, education and social ties and needs
. (Albert Einstein).
Morality: The term ‘moral’ comes from the Latin ‘mos’ (manner, character, proper behavior) which means custom or habit and it is a translation of the Greek word ‘ethos’ which means roughly the same thing. It is the origin of the term ‘ethics’.
The word is broadly defined to do with conduct and concerned with the principles of right and wrong behavior. Being right to ourselves, being right to our families, relatives, colleagues, neighbors and every single human living on this planet. Being right also to every single creature that completes and beautifies our life on this planet.
Morality refers to the practical activity of human behavior and ethical values refer to systematic and rational reflection. Morality, ethics and values are intertwined and connected to society.
The core values are love, compassion, care, integrity, honesty, justice, trust and courage. Basically, it emphasizes the absolute importance of being right, which means to be in accordance with the principles of justice. As humans, we should understand universal values more than ever, which needs to be highlighted, supported and acknowledged as the biggest treasure we have inherited from our antecedents as our common knowledge.
The majority of us are unaware that we all are passengers in this planet. We don’t have eternity here. Hence moral understanding will make us lead a peaceful life, be kind to each- other and our planet, by molding us into generous human beings. This means to reflect and share generously and also to appreciate and help to develop the human values we see in each one of us. To be truthful and sincere to people and ourselves, so to have relationships which leads to a peaceful and harmonious life.
Morality indicates being cooperative and accommodative by showing a cheerful willingness to help everyone develop, solve problems and show its own best part. Also to involve our relationships in good competitive challenges aiming to collectively improve and prosper.
It helps by sharing love and care to every human being and every creature on this beautiful planet. To being present with love and understanding in someone’s life and caring about everyone around us, is what we would love to have on our own. The kind thoughtfulness of being considerate to the rest of the humanity by training our minds to have good thoughts towards ourselves and also to the people around us.
Moral mind is a criterion we use to evaluate if something is good or not. It is an experience that improves our mood, enlightens our mind, gives hope for a better future, empowers our relationships, makes us feels good about ourselves by building a good character. Knowing moral values makes the character we build lasts forever.
So, keeping in mind all the above, moral value is about training our minds and heart to recognize and have the strength and will to choose the right way to lead our lives by practicing morals that lead to the enrichment of our lives
(I) Three stages of moral mind:
From our extensive research we concluded moral behaviour consists of three different stages: Knowing, Embracing, Implementing.
Knowing – is the first step to morality as it forms the basic foundation for human interest to understand happiness, A healthy mind is peaceful when it knows common moral codes.
Embracing – is the next step for a progressive human mind towards enlightenment and happiness for self-reformation by emitting positive thoughts not only to ourselves but also to others around us.
Implementing – is knowing, embracing and believing in working towards making a healthy mind, not only to ourselves but for the benefit of the common good of humanity by promoting self-realization of life through moral activeness and thus, contributing to a peaceful harmonious world.
Poem: Burning Bright
"My heart is burning bright.
It’s been illuminated,
by the beauty of stars, tonight.
I ask myself, is true happiness gated,
to only those kind-hearted.
Happiness can you be kind,
to the faces of my mankind,
without worries or tears to bind.
Brighten hearts in rainbow coloured,
With Peace and Prosperity fully covered.
Life with peace sounds expensive,
with wars and hatred being oppressive.
Will morality, still be the preventive?
Yes, if peace is our selective,
Moral values, will be productive".
The Poet wakes up from mid-sleep because of a dream and gazes upon the stars and the charm of the moon.
As the clouds cover the major view of the moon, the poet says that his heart is burning bright due to the beauty of the illuminated stars. He questioned himself whether happiness could wipe off all the sorrows or misery of the people in
