    Getting Hers - Ellie Davis

In Cass Gets Her Kicks, Cass Reed is recently divorced and determined to make a new life for herself far away from her ex-husband. She sets out on the Mother Road in a 1955 Chevy, bound for Los Angeles, and along the way stops in Kansas, New Mexico, and Arizona.

In Right This Time, life is too short to spend it repressed and unsatisfied. It took twelve years for Rachel to realize that she deserved better than an empty, passionless marriage and once she did, she stopped wasting time. Divorced and ready to fulfill long-kept fantasies of thoroughly enjoyable sex, she has found a willing partner in Eric.

In Just For Tonight, her name is Chelsea, but it might as well be Babe since Jim hasn't called her anything else in over fifteen years. She's his best friend and the only woman he ever loved.

    About the Author

Cass Reed nursed a stale beer as she picked at her paper-lined basket of cold steak fingers and soggy French fries. Cigarette smoke stung her eyes and twangy country music assailed her ears. Behind her, rough-looking men and women shouted at each other to be heard over the incessant clack of pool balls smacking together. It was the end of her first day traveling Route 66.

Illinois and Missouri had been a whole lot of nothing. The ride was bumpy, the low speed limits made her long for the Interstate, driving with the windows down had given her a headache, and Janis had called every hour to check up on her, as if she wasn't thirty-three and capable of taking care of herself. Toledo felt a million miles away. Cass's shoulders sagged and her vision blurred. If anyone had asked, she would have said it was the cigarette smoke making her eyes water. Loneliness was like a maw in her gut. Exhaustion buzzed in her head.

She should have flown to Los Angeles like a sane person. If she hadn't already been two days into her road trip, she might have turned around. But she was already in Kansas, and her new job started in two weeks, and going back home—no, not home, not anymore—would have felt like failure. She wasn't willing to give Nicholas or Michelle the satisfaction. She would press on. They would never know how angry she was. They would never know how much his betrayal hurt. She had worked hard to maintain her dignity all through the divorce, but in the end, she was the one running away. She couldn't go back.

Movement in her peripheral vision made her turn her head. Suddenly, the divorce was the furthest thing from her mind.

Tall and lanky, dressed in a dark t-shirt and snug blue jeans, he leaned against a wooden support column at the edge of the dance floor. His crew cut was in need of a trim, but the hard line of his jaw and his full lips made up for it. Cass met his eyes. He twisted his lips into a smirk and pushed away from the column. It took her muddled brain several seconds to realize that he was swaggering straight toward her.

Cass went back to staring at her food. What the hell?

When she raised her head again, he was standing at her elbow, looking at her as though he might devour her. She realized with a start that he had to be at least ten years younger than she was. Terror caused bile to rise in her throat.

He set his beer on the bartop and leaned in close. She smelled grease and Old Spice.

I'm Gavin, he said over the din.

Cass swallowed hard as her stomach migrated to her toes. It had been a long, long time since anyone had looked at her the way Gavin was looking at her, but her body seemed to understand even if her brain couldn't quite grasp the reality.

    Cass, she croaked.

Gavin tipped his head and his eyes dropped. Cass with the great ass.

Her breathing stopped and she only barely resisted the urge to twist around in her chair and look down at herself. Great ass? Plain old Cass with the widening ass of rapidly-approaching middle age was Cass with the Great Ass to this man-child?

Heat flushed her cheeks. She looked him over, half-afraid to meet his eyes. His t-shirt was taut against his chest, and the bulge in the front of his jeans just begged to be touched. Her gaze flicked to the beer bottle he gripped by the neck. As she stared, she thought of the Magic Fingers back in her cheap motel room.

The memory of her mother's voice played in her head. You never had enough fun, Cassandra. I told you marrying Nicholas was a mistake. You and me, we aren't the marrying kind.

    Maybe Janis was right.

Maybe a this was exactly what she needed.

Cass bit the inside of her bottom lip.

Gavin watched her with a smug patience she found strangely appealing.

    Who's going to know?

Her eyes dropped once more to the bulge at the zipper of his jeans. Sex with Nicholas was difficult whenever he drank; he swore that whiskey dick was a real thing, but she had never been with anyone else and she had learned the hard way that he was a liar. Trembling and trying to hide it, Cass lifted her chin and met Gavin's green eyes.

Think you can still get it up?

It was difficult to say which of them was more surprised, but Gavin's expression quickly melted into one of dark humor. He reached for her hand and took it to the front of his pants, then pressed her fingers to the hard line of his dick through the denim.

    Yeah, I think so.

Cass pulled her hand away. Her heart pounded against her breastbone and she felt dizzy. She had made her decision. She fumbled for her purse and finally laid enough cash on the bar to cover her tab, his beer, and a tip. Her fingers shook. She balled her hands into fists, stiffened her spine, and slid from her chair.

A miscalculation on her part had her brushing the front of her body against Gavin's. She shuddered.

I'm staying at the Galena Motel. Follow me. Her voice sounded steadier than she felt. She started for the bar's exit.

She listened to the sound of Gavin's boots falling against the hardwood floor behind her. She heard them even over the din of the music, conversation, and billiards. Knowing he followed did nothing to calm her nerves.

Once outside, she paused to take a deep breath. I am an adult. I can have one-night-stands with good-looking young men in Kansas and never see them again if I want. There's no rule that says I can't. I'm not accountable to anyone. Not anymore.

Gavin wrapped an arm around her waist.

He pinned her against the side of the building. Cass turned her face up and rose on tiptoe. Gavin cupped the back of her head and pressed his mouth hard to hers. Cass parted her lips, inviting his tongue in against hers. She tasted Budweiser and mouthwash, cigarette smoke and saliva. She fisted her hands in the front of his shirt, swaying into him as her ankles threatened to give out and all the blood in her body rushed straight to her cunt.

Several heartbeats later, Gavin broke the kiss with an audible gasp and stepped away from her. He grabbed her hand. Cass felt him tremble as he squeezed her fingers.

    Which one is yours?

Breathless, she pointed to the '55 Chevy parked under the lot's only
