The Five Movements, Baller Principles to Help You Win at Life - Aaron Williams

    Introduction

There are five stages in life that I have learned through personal experience resemble the different positions of basketball. I call these stages, movements. They are mostly hidden.

We are often not aware of how life works, which causes most people to repeat the same things over and over, resembling a dog chasing its tail.

With The Five Movements you will discover or relearn your Reason or Purpose for being here, and how to navigate throughout the game of life so you can live your life with PASSION to the fullest.

You can apply these movements not just momentarily, but you’ll better understand that each movement, each cycle or stage of your life places you closer to your CENTER and that’s when the game really begins.

The key of The Five Movements if you take my challenge is to become (AWARE) and/or (AWOKE). You will find that the truest part of yourself, that which was created in love, never changes. You have just forgotten to put it in the starting line-up with the other movements you will discover in this book.

I have met so many people that have yet to understand the importance of what you are about to discover. They have lived into their later years and have yet to find their true self. They have not found it in their careers, relationships, or in any other aspects of their lives.

I truly believe that the information I’m sharing with you is a gift from above.

The greatest unanswered question in life isn’t, Why me?

When you come to the place of discovery in your life when you realize you’re not happy or that there is a void or that you have missed the mark, the question that many of us refuse to allow ourselves or anyone else to ask us is, What if?

To most people this is the big no-no question. I’ll never allow anyone to hear me say what if because that means admitting I might not be as perfect or in control as I project myself to be.

I remember taking a boat trip to Catalina Island as a child, a small Island in California which was made famous by being the go-to place for movie stars vacations. They also produced the television series Fantasy Island there.

At the end of the trip, as we were departing, a gentleman, a stranger, approached me out of the blue.

He asked me, Do you know what separates all the movie stars that we just saw on the island from us regular folks riding back to the mainland on this boat?

    No, I replied.

They didn’t stop at ‘why not me?’ They discovered the movements to conquer the question of ‘what if?’

Honestly, I didn’t understand what he was saying at that time.

My goal for writing this book is to draw you away from the mundane cycle this life reflects. Politics. Injustice. Wars. Instead, I want to take you to a place where time comes to a slow halt. I use my love for the game of basketball to explain my philosophy so you will easily understand my theories.

My theories may be the answer to some of life’s questions that you have been searching for. They may also be a spiritual guide that will help you create a clear path to the most important person in your life, your true self.

I know from experience that one positive movement into your true CENTER, can bring you into the creative side of your true self.

My goal for you as you read this book is to fall in love with a stranger. Your true self.

    B-Ball: The Fundamentals

    Rules of the Game

The Rules. Basketball is a team sport. For the purposes of this book. I will use the National Basketball Association (NBA) as the standard for the information I present. In the NBA the standard league-wide average are 14 players per team.

The two teams each select five starters who play most of the 48 minutes in a game. The players each try to score by shooting a ball through a hoop elevated 10 feet above the ground. They play the game on a rectangular floor called the court, and there is a hoop at each end.

    Shooting

Shooting is the most important skill in basketball. There are other fundamental skills: passing, dribbling, defense, and rebounding. Using these other skills may enable you to get a high percentage shot, but you must still be able to make the shot. A large part of shooting is mental attitude.

A player must be able to focus under pressure. He or she must not become distracted by the noise of the crowd or the other team’s antics, or mental fatigue.

    Game Structure

An NBA game is four quarters of 12 minutes each, for a total of 48 minutes. However, regulation time is stopped for many aspects of gameplay, like fouls, ball out-of-bounds, timeouts, and a 15-minute halftime. That makes the wall-clock duration of typical games 2-2.5 hours.

    The Game

Basketball is a sport I have a great passion for and will always cherish. My first experience with the sport
