There's no one to save her from me.

An accident brought her into my life.

And now a killer is trying to take her away.

But I've had a taste, and made a decision:

This girl is staying in my bed for good.

Parker

Turning her life into a war zone wasn't part of the plan.

And she seemed like she could handle herself.

But from the first hot taste, I was hooked.

And keeping my hands to myself was no longer an option.

That first kiss set us both on fire.

It gave life to the molten core of my lust…

And there's no stopping it now.

But someone is trying to run us down.

He wants us dead and gone.

But if he thinks I'm letting him take her away from me, he'd better think again.

Because the girl is mine.

And nothing – not death, not war, not a bloodthirsty rival with a death wish – will take her from me.

Jillian

Falling for him might have been a fatal mistake.

But I couldn't help myself.

No matter how hard my rational brain screamed at me to stay far away from Parker and the Dirty Riders MC…

My body just wouldn't let me run.

How could I?

His kiss brings me life.

But his enemies might bring us death.

The man on our trail is determined to kill us or die trying.

He's a broken monster, shattered by a tragic past.

But he doesn't want our pity.

He wants our blood.

And I'm powerless to stop him.

The only thing I can do is hold onto the biker who swept me off my feet…

And pray that he'll do the right thing in the end.

This book is way more “sweet” than hardcore like the description claims it to be. So far the characters are likeable and the story is interesting so it’s on to the next book for me.

Chapter 1

Jillian Dodd walked along the path with only one earphone in so that she could listen to Imelda May and still be aware of her surroundings, as she enjoyed the glorious spring day. Atlanta was hotter than seven hells in summer, but during spring and fall, there was no place she’d rather live.

The two Corgis, Jack and Jill, the Japanese Spits owned by the lawyer couple, So-sue-me, and the Papillion, Butterfly, trotted along with her, their tongues lolled out as if they were smiling. She was walking through Brook Run Park, giving the pampered pooches one of their walks. Agnes Billings owned a doggy daycare just off the park in the Dunwoody area of Atlanta. A retired schoolteacher, Agnes made sure her furry charges were well cared for. Each dog got walked twice a day, and she offered grooming services and obedience classes as well for the well-heeled residents of Dunwoody who didn’t have the time or inclination to properly care for their pets during the week.

Agnes had two walkers - Jillian who arrived between eight and nine in the morning, and Katelyn who came in around three in the afternoon. She made ten bucks a dog for a one-mile walk, and the park seemed the perfect place as the walking path there was a tick over a mile in length. She could make as much as one hundred and twenty dollars an hour walking the little dogs because she could take three or four at a time. But when it came to the big dogs, she had to take one at a time to prevent them from pulling her down, dragging her away, or running off altogether.

She normally did her daily running with the big dogs, and Duke, the Great Dane, particularly seemed to enjoy his run. Every time she appeared with his lead, he would whine and squirm in excitement. She made more money with the little dogs, but she enjoyed the big dogs more. They were terrific goon repellant, generally more laid back, and she could run with them.

She had quit her second job at Talbots almost a year before, devoting herself full-time to her writing. She had landed a gig with ONS, Online News Service - a startup online news journal that was trying to change the paradigm of how news was reported. ONS contracted with tens of thousands of reporters around the country, and around the world, to cover the news. Reporters just like her. They covered the stories that were local to them and submitted them to ONS for publication on their website.

ONS reported on everything from fires to politics, to international affairs. Based in Atlanta, when ONS launched ten years ago, the big news firms and the major networks laughed them off at first as a stupid idea—a flash in the pan. Ten years later, they weren’t laughing now.

ONS was often the first to report on major happenings, already having reporters on the ground in practically every corner of the country. With the recent addition of regional editors, people assigned to make sure the writing was sharp and clear, they were producing content every bit as good as the major players. And Jillian was part of it.

She had started out as most did, reporting on fires and thefts and city council meetings, but she had gradually transitioned into her true passion, investigative journalism. She would find a story and pursue it until she had it. Often, the stories that first appeared on ONS had been picked up by major news services, including the AP, but she’d never had one of hers picked up. Until last week. Her piece on the corrupt city councilman who was getting a kickback from contractors to funnel them projects had caused a big splash, and the councilman was now under pressure to resign.

She was beginning to get noticed with ONS, and she was now writing under her own byline. Even though she was climbing the ladder to top pay scales, she hadn’t made it yet. She had quit Talbots, thinking the extra hours she spent working on what she considered her real job would allow to live off her writing. She wasn’t quite making it, but spending a couple hours a day walking dogs gave her just enough of a boost to make ends meet, plus it allowed her to get paid for something she was doing anyway, trying to stay fit. It also allowed her to be alone with her thoughts. Some of her best ideas and turns of phrase came to her as she wrangled dogs.

Her life was coming together, and she was content and happy. She felt like she was contributing something to the society, doing her part to make the world a better place by reporting on the corrupt and the unjust. If that meant corralling dogs for a couple hours a day, five days a week, it was a small price to pay to allow her to do something she was passionate about.

She was on the return loop of the path, approaching Dekalb Drive, when an attractive brunette jogged past. She was breathing hard; her shirt was soaked with sweat and sticking to her like a second skin. She was obviously well into her run, but she was still moving pretty good. Jillian grinned as she watched the woman sway past. After running four miles with the dogs, that was similar to how she looked too; her blonde
