About this ebook

"Ugh. Wait a minute. Wanna put the sign closed first, so no one will disturb us later, hehe," said Nia as she moved forward. "But there's one more problem," she exclaimed as she returned, pouting her thin, wet lips.
"What?" asked Andrew, impatient.
"The rooms are fully booked," answered Nia. "There's a nice place, bro. Just rather open," she said, glancing at him with a challenging look.

    CHAPTER ONE

    Seriously? asked the smell-smock.

Liddy could hear the tone of disbelief.

    Seriously, Drew. How’s now?

She couldn’t help but panic in her voice.

    I’m now going there.

Liddy heard a firm tone in Andrew’s voice. She hung up the phone, and for a moment she felt nervous.

Oh, my God! Why it all happened so suddenly? Just yesterday I was talking with Addy.

Ma’am, are you okay? asked Sinclair worriedly.

I’m fine, said Liddy with a smile.

    No, I’m not fine.

Personally, she didn’t know Addy, but the loss felt so fast, and again he was the lead programmer for G-Team. It was a big loss for their project.

Ahhhh… How could I be so mean? Just think of projects at a time like this.

Ma’am, we should go to G-Team now. Maybe we can get clearer information about this, said Sinclair.

    Come on.

They walked into the G-Team meeting room in silence, busy with each other’s thoughts. Today’s meeting room felt a little different. The room was usually filled with Franny’s jokes, Edwyn’s curses, and warm conversations between Sinclair, Liddy, and Erin. Today it felt quiet. There were only Edwyn and the secretary.

    Morning, Edwyn, Erin.

    Morning, Liddy, said Edwyn, smiling.

Morning, Liddy, replied the secretary, Erin. Have you heard the news? she asked.

Ahuh, from Franny. Then what now? asked Liddy, asking about the latest news.

Franny’s at the police station now. Might be on his way back.

    At the police station? Why?

    Routine investigation, answered Edwyn.

    With whom? asked Sinclair.

Alone, Clair, answered someone from the door.

    Franny?

Why? What about the results of the investigation? Any clarity from the police? chirped Sinclair.

Which one should I answer first? said Franny, smiling slightly. Erin, please get me coffee, he said. Huftt, he sighed, sitting in a chair.

He looked exhausted. The usually cheerful face turned serious now. His hand rose and massaged his head and nape. They just waited in silence for what he wanted to say.

Sir, here’s your coffee, said Erin. Ma’am, coffee or tea? she said, showing coffee and tea she brought on the tray.

Liddy took a cup of coffee and said thank you. She had to admit the creativity of the secretary, a wife-to-be who would be coveted by every husband.

    Is the sh…?

How’s that? asked Edwyn, interrupting her thoughts.

Let it be clear to all. This morning, at six, I received a call from the police, asking me if there really was an employee named Addy Mah here, said Franny, pausing to sip his coffee. I said a sure thing. Then the police asked me to go to the hospital to confirm that the corpse that was found in the hotel was really Addy, he continued.

In the hotel? Why was Addy in the hotel? asked Sinclair impatiently.

That’s also the question of me and the police. But there’s an allegation he went there for… short time.

Where does the allegation come from?

    Finally, Liddy opened her voice.

Because he was found naked, and when the hotel was confirmed, Addy checked in with a woman, explained Franny.

Is it already known the identity of the woman who was with Addy and the cause of death? asked Edwyn.

    Simple but hitting as usual.

That, that’s the problem. They checked in using Addy’s identity while his partner wore closed clothes and a hat and glasses, so it’s hard to describe her identity. The possible cause of death is a heart attack due to an overdose of Viagra, explained Franny.

    An overdose of Viagra?

Liddy pictured Sinclair’s description of him:

He has heart problems and high blood pressure. It’s not strange, seeing his life and food. Soft drinks and cigarettes become his daily friends besides fast food which is his dinner menu. And he likes to score! Is it possible…?

But, Fran, why the police even contacted us, not his family? asked Edwyn, interrupting Liddy’s thoughts.

That’s true! The police should contact his family first.

Addy doesn’t have any relatives, answered Erin softly.

Well, that explains it, said Edwyn.

And it’s likely the police will be here any minute. Maybe they’re gonna ask you something, so, yeah, just get ready, said Franny. Someone already contacted Andrew? he continued.

    Ahuh, Liddy did, answered Sinclair.

They were speechless after hearing Sinclair’s answer. There was silence in this meeting room. Liddy saw everyone pondering, maybe thinking about losing Addy so quickly.

Or thinking about the continuation of this project. I wish the smell-smock were here.

    Kring, kring, kring!

    The telephone call surprised them.

Hello, good morning. Erin’s here. Can I help you? she answered the phone. Okay, take them to the meeting room, huh. The police are on their way here, she explained after hanging up the phone.

    Hmmm, so fast, murmured Edwyn.

    Knock, knock, knock.

Liddy turned to the door, and there stood Freya, the receptionist, escorting two men.

Sir, these gentlemen are from the police, said Freya, pointing at the two men behind her.

Yes, Frey. Thanks, answered Franny as he stepped closer to the two men while Freya returned to her place.

Good morning, sir. We’re from the police. I’m Herman, detective. This is my partner, Gage, said the shorter police officer.

He was about forty years old with a slightly fat body. His face was fatherly and looked patient. His partner was a few inches taller and thin, but his eyes were
