CHAPTER ONE
The stars will be bigger next year
I said to the city skyline from the comfort of my huge balcony.
I looked back behind me at my girlfriend whose name is Pamela Johnson. She smiled at me, her lips luscious and sexy.
Come back to bed
she said sexily, or I’ll make you come back.
I smiled pleasantly. She didn’t understand. She never could.
Then she went and pouted. You never listen to me!
she screamed shrilly. I rolled my eyes. Not THIS again.
I grabbed her by the shoulders and threw her back down on the bed. Suddenly she was happy again. I was hoping you’d start showing off your moxy sooner rather than later…
She rolled onto her side so that I could fall onto the bed next to her.
After all,
she continued, you are the busiest, richest billionaire in this whole filthy city
.
And she was right. I was very rich, and very famous, and there were statues in my honor even though the city had gone downhill since the war.
That’s right,
I said calmly but with a sad look, After they came suddenly and destroyed everything this is all we have now. I was the only billionaire who survived, which makes me the richest one, but at what cost?
I rolled away from Pamela, very sad. She started crying and rubbing my shoulder to let me know it was going to be okay.
Thank you, I love you.
I said.
She smiled at me, horny as a hornet. She kissed me and I kissed her back. I grabbed her body and made love with her body.
But I was still sad.
---
The next day I was in the office building filing some paper work and highlighting documents.
I sat behind my desk and started looking through the files on my desktop computer (it was the only one left after the war and there’s only some technology).
I looked at the clock. It was only 12 pm! I still had 6 more hours in the work day! (since the war, people had to work harder and longer, like they should have been doing in the first place or maybe none of this would’ve happened).
My assistant limped into my office. His name is Michael Robertson and he fought in the front line. He is limping because he lost his leg in the war.
These files came for you sir
he said confidently.
Put them on my desk!
I said back to him, sternly.
Right away!
he said excited for things to come. After all, he was expecting a big promotion today, and I wasn’t about to not give it to him.
Say, why you’re here, why don’t you take a seat?
I expressed. Michael pretended to be surprised, but I could tell he wasn’t really surprised.
Michael smiled warmly. Sure thing, boss!
He took a seat in the thousand dollar chair across from the desk – after all I liked to make sure that my guests were comfortable when it mattered.
So what’s this about?
he asked nervously.
I laughed. I think it’s time you stopped saving up for that dream house, Michael Robertson, because you’re in luck.
He perked up excited by this sentence. I leaned across the desk and said in a voice that was more like a whisper that he had the promotion and a huge bonus from my own personal wallet.
You’re amazing sir! You’re the best boss anyone could ever want in the whole world
he screamed but was holding back a lot.
Don’t worry, okay?
I said back to him, keeping my cool, It’s important in business to remember that tact is the firs t thing you think about when you come into the office and when you go home from the office.
Michael nodded, and promised it wouldn’t happen again and left. He buzzed me on my intercom and said Sir, your girlfriend Pamela Johnson is here.
Send her in
I said, happy to be seeing her in just a second.
She came in, with shopping bags in her hands. My jaw dropped to the floor, shocked. Pamela didn’t work of course she didn’t – how did she get all this shopping, especially now that the nearest mall was hours away because of the war???
Pamela!
what is it honey?
Did you spend my money on shopping that you don’t need?
Pamela realised she was holding the bags all of a sudden and dropped them, embarrassed. Out of them rolled lots of makeup and expensive handbags and red sexy dresses.
I was just about to tell you that I loved you but now I am mad!
I screamed at her in the face. She smiled all silly and not caring.
It’s not a big deal. you don’t work THAT hard!
she spat back at me with venom like a snake might.
Fuck her! I was so busy, and so rich, and that wasn’t without hard work. She’d never worked a day in her life and she was a spoiled, selfish bitch. I couldn’t believe what I’d gotten myself into. I was so embarrassed, to think I was going to marry this woman
. hah! Not anymore...
Pamela, it’s over. This is over,
I told her.
She rolled her eyes. Okay, fine, but you know what that means?
What?
I asked her, excited to hear what dumb thing she had to say.
All your money and job and house becomes mine as soon as you leave me!
She was right. I’d completely forgotten all about this rule that came in after the war. Because of all the men going off to war all the girls got their things and jobs when they died. Because of politics, things became exaggerated and now all you hear about is girls getting jobs men should have. Disgusting!
That’s not fair!
I told her nicely, trying to remain civil.
Too bad,
she spat back, It’s the law.
I looked around. I grabbed a statue that was sitting on my desk.
She laughed. Haha! Just because you were one of the leading generals in the war doesn’t mean that you get to just
– WHACK!
I hit her in the head with the statue and she fell to the ground. BOOM! Blood came out of her head and got in the carpet, and trinkled down all the way to the edge of the room. It stained the bottom bit of the glass since the walls were completely glass like they used to do in the 60s. After the war all the newer buildings got destroyed so we all moved back to the older ones and kept up the style.
I heard Michael. He said What’s going on in there?
I had to think quickly. It was only a matter of time before Michael came in and saw Pamela’s body dead on the ground. I opened up one of the big windows and threw her body out.
But there was still blood! Oh no, Oh no, I’m going to go to prison I thought, and I didn’t even do anything wrong or unreasonable!
Suddenly Michael ran in. What’s with all the commotion?
he panted, out of breath. He didn’t notice the blood yet.
I stood on top of the blood while he was distracted so he wouldn’t see what I’d done.
Sir! What’s that?
Oh no. What do you mean, Michael Robertson?
Your statue fell on the ground! Please, let me pick it up for you...
No!
I screamed. If he saw the statue had blood on it, he’d see the blood on the ground.
Sorry sir! Hey, where did Pamela go? Is she okay?
he responded innocently.
She is okay, she just went to go get her hair done with her girlfriends,
I said, thinking quick on my feet, Don’t worry, she’ll be back in later.
Great, I’ll get back to work now.
Michael then walked out of the room and closed the door behind him.
I let out one big breath. Oh my god, I hadn’t felt this stressed since the war. But nothing was as bad as the day the war first broke out. The American president had finally declared that all war was over, and all the countries had gathered in the exact middle of the world to sign a special treaty that would mean everyone gets along now. But then a crazy nuclear scientest bombed them, and all the world leaders were dead at once.
Everyone went to war against the nuclear scientest and his army. All the rich people were put in charge of the war since all the world leaders were gone, and we did a great job. But a lot of people died, and even though I killed the scientest with my bare hands, and made him apologise for killing all the leaders, and now the war is over, I still feel like I’m still back there fighting that war every day.
I looked out the window of my office as I cleaned the blood up from the floor. Gosh, this was so hard. But it wasn’t as hard as what was about to come next.
The door knocked. I turned around. It opened. I gasped.
Jim!
I said, pretending to act scared.
It’s me. I’m back.
said Jim.
Jim wasn’t just anyone. Jim was the name of the scientest.
CHAPTER TWO
I killed you!
I told Jim.
Jim laughed. Haha, no, you think you did but I’m alive! I survived the war and have been hiding for ten years but now it’s time for my revenge!
I sighed, disappointed. Jim, how did you survive??
Jim rolled his eyes and threw his hand around. I survived because of things you didn’t know, there was nothing wrong with the way you thought you killed me because you’re a genius at that kind of thing.
He was right. I was trained in all kinds of army training and I was a sniper for the government before the war as well as running my company, which survived the war and is going strong to this day, and has only gone up in profits and never lost a dollar during the wartime effort.
I see this place is still going strong
Jim said as he stroked the glass wall. Then he noticed one was open. Wait a second... there’s blood on the carpet.... and I tried to call Pam earlier to say hello and her phone went to voicemail... answer in this order: 1. did you kill her? 2. why? 3. what did she do to make you do that?
I responded back by saying 1. yes. 2. because she was trying to steal my money and job. 3. she was trying to steal my money and job.
Jim let out a sigh of anger. I’m going to get you for killing the love of my life!
I gasped. It all made sense now. Jim, did you bomb the world leaders because you were jealous of my girlfriend and wanted to fight me in war?
He nodded, and laughed, confirming the theory I’d said. "That’s right! And now prepare to die!
Jim pulled out a gun. He held his finger on the trigger.
I closed my eyes. This was it.
But then I remembered that before the war, I was an olympic gold medalist in jumping because of all my black ops training. I did a massive flip in the air, and landed on Jim,
