This helps them be detectives and also means they have a lot of fun!

Their second mystery is about the kidnap of the Princess Richenda from the Royal Place. She has been taken to French Town by the evil Prince Igor. The Sleuths must follow and save her with the aid of their new pet the monkey Rafa. Will they find the Princess with the help of their cousins Phillip and Jean Luc and what happens when they are pursued by the pirates? 

Using their magic to help them the Sleuths are training themselves to be detectives and they make sure that they are always looking for clues to help them succeed.

Chapter 1; 

The sleuths get a new pet;

Captain Jett Wheeler of the sailing ship ‘The Golden Ram’ had returned from his travels at sea. He was delighted to be home in Clipper House, on Upper Strand, in the city of Sandopolis. He was greeted with acclaim by his wife Nina, son Milo and the entire Sinclair clan who also lived there. He was welcomed especially by the twins Zelie and Zav Sinclair, who were best friends of his son.

‘I’m afraid I haven’t brought you books this time as I usually do,’ he said, ‘Instead I’ve brought you all a pet; a monkey in fact!‘

He drew back his cloak to reveal a monkey in a red coat; it was a tiny creature.

‘Oh how sweet!’ cried Zelie.

‘He’s a clever little thing,’ grinned the Captain adding, ‘It’s for you all to share.’ looking fondly at Milo, Zav and Zelie.

‘Come here.’ said Zav beckoning the little thing over to him. He loved all pets and already had a dog called Jufus.

‘What shall we call him?’ asked Milo.

‘Rafa.’ replied Zav with decision.

‘Yes that sounds good. Rafa it is!’

Rafa soon settled in and everyone loved him except Widow Hanlon the cook who was forever chasing him out of her kitchen. Rafa adored all fruit and she had to resort to hiding the bananas in a cupboard.

'I'll take a stick ta yer!' she cried each time she caught him. They all knew she wouldn’t but it didn’t matter much as Rafa was too fast for anyone to catch.

‘He can be bribed so easily.’ said Zelie with a grin holding out a banana to Rafa. ‘Anyone with a banana is his friend.’

Jufus the dog had taken a great liking to him and Rafa would ride about on his shoulders. When they were at the beach riding their horses, it looked very comic; children on horses followed by a monkey riding a dog! Rafa was also very interested in clothes and loved his little red jacket. He also liked to wear a bright green bandana around his neck.
