Journey of the Soul - Cathy Wagner
FRIENDSHIP
Life has friends who come and go
Some we love or we just know
We find them through school and places we are
And each one leaves a little scar
But those we meet at work we find
Are those with whom we spend most time
The see us in our rawest form
And pick us up and we're forlorn
So as you leave this group today
Remember with love those who helped along the way
And think of them fondly as you recall
But enjoy this next stage of life most of all.
EMILY
I heard a story, just today
About a girl who's sick.
I heard she has a tumour
Quite near her brain I think.
She's needing chemotherapy
And yet she's only four,
It's not just those who suffer
Are only all the poor.
This little girl, dear Emily
Suffering alone
A rare cancer they have found,
And yet she's not alone.
You see she has an army
Of friends right by her side
It's not just her parents
Who pray or know her well.
You see this army of Emily's
They're diligent prayers as well.
And so we, altogether
Will pray you for Emily.
Each night and day and as long as it takes.
To ensure that you become well.
SALTWATER
Soothing, supporting,
Steady sounds
Luring you into a web
Of blue and creamy swirls.
You wander in,
You're captured.
Helpless to resist,
Heart starting, invigorating
You succumb to its sting.
Floating, wandering,
Mind numbing,
Senses reacting,
Sun burning.
Leaving.
Saltwater.
BALANCE
I sit, I listen, I breathe,
I watch with ease.
Water flowing
Breath blowing,
Leaves falling
Birds gliding.
Time stands still,
Until
Work begins.
Typing, studying, stressing,
Until
I'm back
Where I belong.
I sit,
In the quiet
Of darkness,
And realise
It's about balance.
Today was just another day and yet it then became
A day that changed my whole life
Would never be the same
And my whole world turned upside down, would never be the same
The day that you walked out on me were lessons learner too late.
You told me there was someone else, you didn't love me anymore
You could have thrown me of the cliff, as you walked out the door.
And then you just turned around and never did return
Until the letter in the mail told me you were gone.
I found it then, it was too late, read not for love you'd left
But rather read the cancer that would leave you so bereft.
You never wanted to hurt me and couldn't face the truth
And so you made that story up that kicked me like a boot.
The day that you walked out on me my world it feel apart
But when they sent
