Riordan MacCormac drove his pickup truck across the eastern United States with his wife Nadia riding in the passenger seat.

He’d had a devil of a time getting the truck back. Last year, he had left it on the secluded estate of Lady Kathromane in upstate New York. Lady Kathromane’s retainers had taken the truck to New York and left at a long-term parking garage. Unfortunately, the Elven noblewoman’s retainers hadn’t retained the record of which parking garage, and it had taken Riordan some work to track it down. When he had finally located the vehicle, the battery had gone flat, as had the tires. A new battery, an air compressor, and a replacement tire later, the truck was as good as new.
