PREFACE
Wicked End started as a spin-off of Triple Threat. Then it took on a life of its own. This story begins six years prior to the very first Wicked End book. It’s about a year after Brandon joined the band. He is still very young and green. In fact, this will mark many first times for him!
Since this is a prequel, don’t expect a HEA or much in the way of true romance. It’s a fun, sexy and wild ride surrounded by Christmas spirit. I hope you enjoy getting to know the boys before the world knew who they were!
MERRY CHRISTMAS!

CHAPTER ONE
Are you sure about this?
Mackenzie Winters couldn’t help but worry, since they were in what had become a rough part of town.
Brandon Knight, lead guitarist of Wicked End, glanced up at his longtime friend. Of course I am.
He grinned, which made the fake white beard and mustache shift. I have to give back.
His fingers wove with hers, and he squeezed her hand. I’m finally making money with my music. These kids deserve a nice Christmas.
His eyes drifted to the mirror beside them. Dressed as Santa Claus, he planned to hand out the toys he’d purchased. Mackenzie stood next to him, in a Mrs. Claus costume, ready to help in anyway possible. She’d been his rock for so long. He was eager to pay her back.
Before he had gotten a call from Wicked End’s bassist less than a year prior, he’d been in college with her. He quit to pursue his dream of being a rock star. They had no name for their relationship, but it didn’t matter. She meant more to him than anyone, except his mother.
Do you know where Kingsley Music is sending you and the band tomorrow?
She bit her bottom lip, hoping she could tag along.
He tugged her closer. Nope. I’m booked on a flight late tonight to L.A. Then we leave in the morning for this mystery vacation celebration.
Wicked End had become the label’s second metal band to break the mainstream barrier.
Did they say anything about having guests?
She had off from school until the new year, and they normally spent Christmas together. When he’d mentioned days earlier he wouldn’t be home for Christmas, she pretended not to care even though it broke her heart.
His face fell. I didn’t get an answer when I asked Jake, and our manager didn’t call me back. Kinda hard to book you a flight when I don’t know where to send you.
I can just leave with you tonight.
She didn’t want to spend the holiday alone.
Aw, Tink.
He hugged her and cradled her head. I’ll bug Carl as soon as I see him.
He cringed. Carl intimidated him, as did Jake, since he was the new guy. If not, we’ll figure something out.
A quick knock caused them to turn. Mr. Knight? The children are ready.
Thanks. Be there in a few.
Brandon lifted Mackenzie’s chin. After this, we’ll have a few hours to ourselves.
She nodded while holding back tears. The kids are probably excited.
He grabbed her hand and the sack nearby before they entered the hallway. Happy voices echoed. His eyes flicked around at the walls decorated with drawings and pictures. Many years ago, he’d walked that very same hall daily. Memories flooded his mind. His teachers had given him the courage to dream big.
When Brandon opened the rear door to the auditorium, a few children cried out. He waved and urged Mackenzie to follow him down the center aisle. Hands reached for him, and he didn’t hesitate to touch them. His nerves faded and peace filled him. For so long, he’d wanted to help his community.
Hello, children!
Brandon shouted in his best Santa voice. His giddy smile never faltered. I hope you’ve all been good.
He pretended the sack over his shoulder was heavy and lifted it higher. I have something special for you all!
Mackenzie followed without a word. She didn’t want to take away from Brandon’s spotlight. He seemed happy and excited to give to the group. Once at the front, they climbed the steps to the stage. She then realized a pair of decorated chairs awaited them.
When Brandon sat in the larger of the two throne-like chairs, he waved at the children again. His heart pounded and hands shook, but he’d promised the full show for them. Nearby, stood a local photographer who’d offered one free photo for each child. Brandon had donated a laptop and printer with special paper for the occasion.
The school’s principal walked toward centerstage. Thank you, Santa, for coming all this way to see us today! Let’s start with the Pre-K classes.
The first child approached Brandon and Mackenzie. After a picture, Brandon asked the girl, What would you like for Christmas?
A winter coat. Mine has holes.
Tears stung Brandon’s eyes. I should have thought of clothes too. When he’d gotten his emotions under control, he whispered to the child, I’ll have one made for you as soon as I can.
Seconds later, he leaned toward Mackenzie. We need to get these kids basic stuff too.
She nodded as she wiped tears away. Because her father had been high ranking in the military, she never wanted for anything in her childhood. She was well aware that Brandon had no such luck. From what she could tell, the children of that school also had little.
Brandon smiled at the young girl. How about until I have your coat, you choose a toy? I didn’t wrap them so you can get what you want. OK?
Yes, thank you so much!
He laughed when she planted a kiss on his cheek. You’re welcome, sweetheart.
He then pointed to the four huge boxes of toys next to him. There were more than enough for every student in the entire school available. Any extras he planned to offer to the teachers first, for their kids.
Many children made their way to the stage and gave them grateful smiles. Their innocent faces reminded him even when you have nothing, you can be happy. Brandon had never felt so good. He wished he could do more. Maybe when I’m making more money, I can.
When the oldest students began to climb the stairs to him, he had several other boxes brought out. Someone had walked the younger kids back to their classes. Brandon asked for that so there wouldn’t be comparing amongst the grades.
Hi!
Brandon gave the first boy a smile.
He pursed his lips for a few seconds. I know you’re not Santa, but I won’t tell.
Very nice of you.
Brandon urged him closer. Do you want something special for Christmas?
Well, yes, but do you have a doll I can give my little sister? She’s not in school yet.
The request floored Brandon. "I’m sure we can find one in the toys behind me. But how about
