About this ebook
King Grey has unrivaled strength, wealth, and prestige in a world governed by martial ability. However, solitude lingers closely behind those with great power. Beneath the glamorous exterior of a powerful king lurks the shell of a man, devoid of purpose and will.
Reincarnated into a new world filled with magic and monsters, the king has a second chance to relive his life. Correcting the mistakes of his past will not be his only challenge, however. Underneath the peace and prosperity of the new world is an undercurrent threatening to destroy everything he has worked for, questioning his role and reason for being born again.

I skipped forward half of the book, especially the last third. The whole book is stagnated. There are a few interesting tidbits sprinkle here and there, but same story repeating over and over. For guy trained by the god, MC keep losing or barely survive and either managed to win after being near death or got save by someone else. I lost count how many times MC almost died and didn’t. It is such a contrast how he is constantly being built up as a prodigy and yet keep getting trash around by most people he fought. And please stop making him acting like a teenager when he is supposed to be a 40 years old king.
There has been something missing in the last couple of books. The princess and his parents where huge parts of the story if not the motivation for Art in the previous books. They have barely been in the story though in the last couple of books. I have a hard time figuring out where the author is taking me. There was a good amount of this book that dealt with Grey (Art's name from his previous life) and his life as an orphan. The story told wasn't one I believe based on what was mentioned in the previous books. [ Art made it seem like he had no one in his life that he cared about, but he had 2 good friends and his headmaster. He also talked about his prowess with Ki, but in the flashback specifics of Ki weren't mentioned. We find out that in Art's previous life, he actually didn't really have much Ki. I couldn't figure out where the author was going by telling this background. It didn't really help explain Art as a character
The war has begun and Art is made a General and a Lance. Again though I had a hard time following some of the author's choices [ Art is able to kill one of the Sythe's retainers and with some help he is able to capture another one. Some of the weird choices is that Art is one of the weakest of the Lance's as he is still not at white core stage. There is a greater disconnect in this book between Arthur being more and less powerful that everyone else. He trains with other Lances and loses, but he is the only one that can defeat a retainer?
The Lance that died earlier in the series was killed by a retainer easily, so how does that work? Is Art stronger than everyone or not? He definitely has more potential. The second issue is that after he defeats the retainers he decides he needs more training, so the last half of the book is him training again despite there being a war on. While the training fights were sort of entertaining, there wasn't a great amount of increase in skills that I feel would really make a difference.
Another thing that annoyed me a little is how the odds changed. The odds were really stacked against Art and his people, but the author felt like it was a good idea to make those odds even worse? I am starting to get a little frustrated in where the author is taking me. I will continue the series but I am not as enthusiastic as I was early on.
Also, it really irritated me when he deliberately entered into a tap with a traitor at his side against a stronger foe. How does that make any sense? Survival? No problem with deus ex machina.
