About this ebook
In a soft comfy nest in a safe warm place there snoozed a great big orange thing called the Yes. He was snug, but the Yes had a Where to go to. So he left his nest and went trundling out. But the Where was an endless place of Nos. They teemed and seethed. They picked and nipped, and snipped and snicked. The Yes yessed in all his goodness and bigness and yesness. But was he strong enough to overcome them?

- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5I enjoyed this book, helping to teach children to keep going when faced with adversity. The pictures are whimsical, the writing is unique (in the style of Dr. Suess, for example).(Low rating is because of the condition of the book received from the publisher for the Early Reviewer program. Seriously? Multiple pages with no staples, even?)
- Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5This book was not for me. In my opinion, "The Yes" didn't make sense and had odd word choices. I did like the illustrations though.
- Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5When yes and no gets all mixed up and yes has to constantly face no, then you might be reading this book. If you are confused about what a yes is, you might be reading this book. If you think that no is always bad, you probably have read 'The Yes'. If you like books with colorful pictures and a poor message, then this is the book for you. If the author was to change the characters to something else... maybe an ist and a whole bunch of quas, it would make a lot more sense.
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5The Yes is an interesting book. I enjoyed the illustrations, and I really liked the concept of not listening to all of the no's you hear and to still try. Ultimately, though, I think the way the story is written will go over the heads of children.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I received this book as part of the LibraryThing Early Reviewers group in exchange for an honest review. My children (ages 6 and 4) and I truly enjoyed this book. The text is poetic and imaginative. The illustrations are bright and beautiful. I worried that my children might struggle to understand, but they "got it" easily and seemed to have no problem following the story or retelling it in their own words. The story is of "the Yes" who goes out into the Where and comes upon some things that it seems may be difficult or even impossible. The "Nos" all try to assure "the Yes" that it shouldn't even try. But "the Yes" says a brave "Yes!" and does each thing. This lesson in perseverance is a delight.(I rated it lower than I would have based on the fact that the way it was sent, I cannot allow my children to keep it on their bookshelves or read it without my help in managing the pages. The collection of loose pages with no cover or even staples is a bit frustrating.)
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5The text is confusing for a childrens book but the message is good. It took me a couple readings to be able to read aloud to children and even with some pre information it was complicated for the young preschool age. My older children could understand the message but didn't have too much love for the book.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I really like this one -- maybe not as a picture book for the littlest kids, but the great language and wonderful landscapes draw me in. Reminds me of Shawn Tan in both artistry and theme.
