THE DAY OF THE WEDDING arrives faster than anyone could have ever imagined. While the rest of the house is sleeping, Angela sits at the kitchen table with a letter in hand, a solemn expression, and a heart full of worry. The past nine months have been full of joy with the engagement and wedding planning, but tainted with fear as Charlie has yet to be caught by the authorities. The letter is addressed to no one in particular, but Angela knows it’s from him. There is a simple hand written sentence penned with such elegance, I hope that she will find happiness without me.

Angela can’t help but tear up as thoughts of the boy she used to know flash through her memories. She never saw how truly troubled Charlie is.
