- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I am not in foreclosure, but do have a relative who is. I approached this book as if I was that relative, knowing what she knows about the process. This easy to read guide answered questions, defined terms and even has a state specific appendix. When buying this, the reader will most likely skip around reading on a need-to-know manner. Again, this is very readable.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Attorney Stephen Elias 's prioven ability to demystify law isused once again, this timein the Nolo book, The Foreclosure Survival Guide. "If you want to keep your home, your best option is to work something out with your mortgage lender; If, on the other hand, you are ready to leave your home, there are ways to follow that path that will leave you relatively flush rather than destitute," Mr Elias said as he begins with these wise words, in the forward of this timely book. He gives an overview of your options and follows with what he calls "the nuts andb bolts of foreclosure". should you keep your house? Emotional as your answer can be, the economics are the reality of the situation. These economics issues, including using Chapter 7 or 13 bankruptcies to delay or stop the foreclosure, are expertly covered by the author. If your choice is to have the foreclosure to proceed, how long can you stay in the home for free? Again, the author covers this aspect of foreclosures and gives resources, which are time savers for all readers. I especially liked that individual state information is listed, citing many topics of interest and the state rule coveering said item.I highly recommend this book to help someone looking agt foreclosure as a complete package of information to understand their options as homeowners. A webpage is accessable to readers for legal forms, updates, names of local real estaate lawyers and videols at nolo.com I personally plan to donate a copy of this book to my local library, as it is beneficial to many homeowners who may now be stressed financially.
