    Serial Killers - Dan Steele

    Introduction

Welcome to the minds of some of the most horrific serial killers of all time. These pages are filled with countless serial killers. Each one is broken down into the simplest of details so that you can learn of the horrific crimes they committed to other people in this world. There is a fine line between sanity and insanity, and many of these serial killers would seem to be insane, but they are far from that.

Sit back and examine the techniques with which some of the most depraved would use to kill their victims.

Chapter 1: What are Serial Killers?

Serial killers have been amazing people since the dawn of time. Even though we find their acts completely heinous and terrifying, we still are interested in what makes them tick. There have been serial killers since the world was created, and that will never change. The first recorded evidence of a serial killer dates back to the 1896 World’s Fair when H. H. Homes or Herman Webster Mudgett made his debut into the serial killer hall of fame. Since that time, more and more serial killers have graced us with their absurd and ludicrous actions.

Although most people are not as deranged as these people who have made it on the serial killer list, there are a few that will find this list kits closer to home than they would like. If you’ve ever been faced with a serial killer, then you may not find this list as fascinating as some other people will. But for those who love to study the mental psyche of a person who is pre-dispositioned to commit these crimes, you may find this list is filled with 200 of the most demented, deranged, heinous crimes that have ever taken place.

Most people consider themselves lucky that they have never crossed paths with a serial killer, but what they don’t realize is that out of all the people you meet in your life, 10.76% will be a murderer. This means that there are at least 10-11 separate instances when you could have become a murder victim. Scary thought, right? This may be why so many people are amazed by the serial killer mentality and what brings them to this type of behavior.

If you look at the statistics, many of the serial killers of today are only committing about 1% of the murders in the U.S. You will also learn that most serial killers are not men; in fact, females are just as capable of becoming serial killers. The statistics state that 17% of women commit serial killer murders. Oddly enough, the number of murders committed by women in the U.S is only 10%. This simply means that women are, by far, committing the most murders due to the number of woman-committed murders, whether serial or not.

Many people will often say that a serial murderer is always white, but this is simply not true. If you examine this list, you will find not only white men and women, but also Islamic, Palestinian, Egyptian, Chinese, Mexican, African, Indian, and many other cultures that have committed these heinous crimes. In fact, the African community represents a vast majority of the percentage of serial murders, with 20% being committed by them. The reason for this misbelief is the popularity of the white male serial killer in the news and media outlets.

Another shocking truth is that many of these serial killers are not the isolated or dysfunctional people that you suspect they are. They are not strange individuals who can be picked out among those in the crowd as odd or weird. In fact, most serial killers are employed in long-term jobs, have families and own homes, and they can even be members to social clubs that are exclusive to the elite. Some of them are even working in law or as doctors or nurses. It has often happened that the serial killer will be friends with those that are investigating their crimes. These serial killers can virtually hide under everyone’s noses, simply because they look like an average Joe. With this blending ability, they become dangerous and even frightening to the public. Although Bundy was one who traveled to commit his crimes, many of the serial killers will only commit crimes in their own hometowns. They will designate an area specific to their needs and focus solely on it; oftentimes, it can be close to home especially on the first murder. They have even been known to bury the victims in a communal grave or underneath their own homes. They may even commit the murders in a place that is more familiar to them such as their hometown. After a few good murders with no complications, they may find the need to step outside the box and stretch their reach even further.

The claim that serial killers are all mentally ill or experiencing psychosis is just not true. The truth lies in the disorders associated with a serial killer. In fact, many of them will be psychopaths or sociopaths who do not suffer from any mental health illnesses, since these are considered non-psychiatric. It is often thought that a serial killer will claim mental illness or insanity. However, the likelihood of mental illness or insanity is much thinner than you think. For insanity, the person has to be unable to comprehend the law behind their actions as well as comprehend the action that has been committed by them. This means that they need to know that murder is wrong and be able to explain how and why. If this is not possible, then they could possibly be categorized as insane, but it’s a hard and narrow diagnosis that is very rare in these cases.
