- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/53D of Happiness includes a scientific, philosophic and personal journey of searching for happiness through pleasure, meaning & spirituality. It represents a life voyage of a former shepherd, who as a child lived in complete poverty and deprivation in the very bottom of world’s population, and how this helped him to be in the opposite side within the first class in terms of possessions and position. In other words, from being Mr. No one to be Mr. Special one, as he achieves to get two PhDs; one in economics in which he used theories and concepts to describe and simplify some of the ideas. One main thing led to this successful career is his passion looking for the cause and effect relationship, after elementary school he asks why not to complete my education, and then he started his prosperity journey. However, between the two phases his trip was full of failures in terms of searching for happiness. In 3D of Happiness, Necati shares his journey of having, doing, and being which turned out to be a cycle of deprivation, emulation, accomplishment, and disappointment. He reveals his success in finally finding happiness through a converging path of science, philosophy, and spirituality. From my perspective, this a great book in different terms, as it handles the issue from an economic point of view as well as trying to gives the solution to avoid the Dead-end loop. Using marginal utility theory to describe how each way through happiness will examine the diminishing of dissatisfaction reached after having the activity related to happiness, this is one of the main concepts explained in the text and it is from economic. Starting with telling his life story and how he suffered to prove that he can break the society enclosures, he struggled to achieve his goals, and I’d say this great book is a great example of success.
