Abby

If there was such a thing as perfection, I’d think it was sipping a hot mug of coffee at about four in the morning on the back porch by the pool, waiting for the sun to come up. Beside me was Kade, dressed in a pair of sweat pants slung low on his hips, exposing his hipbones and the cut muscles of his abs. He’d foregone a shirt, despite the mostly pleasant chill of the morning, and I was grateful. I’d pulled on a sweatshirt and nothing else because I wanted to make sure that whenever he felt like touching me—tasting me, slipping inside of me, whatever he felt like—he’d have an easy time doing it.

Yesterday was wonderful because it was just the two of us all day. I didn’t need to go out, except to check on April, and more importantly, I didn’t want to. All I wanted to do was feel boneless in his arms, letting his touch ease away the tension that had been part of me for the better part of a year now.
