About this ebook
Janice Althorpe is mourning the death of her employer, and fiance, publishing magnate Charles Fallmont. Today she is at Charles’ funeral, sitting alone, watching the proceedings from afar in the church. While Charles’ daughter Maureen welcomes Janice’s presence at the funeral, son Jackson resents Janice, seeing her as a gold digging opportunist who used his father. Janice faithfully attends the funeral until the casket is placed in the hearse, but an unexpected interruption urges Janice to leave the ceremony, in the process possibly placing her life in peril...

The Funeral
Janice Althorpe was seated on a funeral pew, at the back of the church. Holding a handkerchief to her eyes, the tears tumbling repeatedly, Janice tried to compose herself as best she could, breathing in and out. She could not believe Charles Fallmont was dead; his private plane disappeared into the ocean that fateful day two weeks ago, and her life changed forever after this event. This past week had been nothing but a nightmare, one she felt could not change, with Charles absent from her life.
Charles, for Janice, was everything that life had abstained from giving her all these years.
