About this ebook

Want help talking to your tween about modesty?

Tweens aren’t meant to grapple with modesty and body image issues alone. But many moms don’t know quite how to talk about these issues.

True Girl Mom-Daughter Devos fills that gap. A companion to True Girl, it cements the truths of that book and provides an opportunity for moms to talk through these important issues with their daughters. It’s not just a book, but a connecting experience for mothers and daughters. Together they’ll go on a journey to meet with their Creator and learn to see themselves through His eyes.

True Girl Mom-Daughter Devos has a simple format of 30 daily devotions. It features:

  • Weekly interactive conversation starters
  • A leader’s guide appendix at the end
  • Downloadable resources at the author’s website.

The True Girl Series exists to bring moms and daughters together for age-appropriate, biblical conversations about true beauty, modesty, and purity.

    Introduction

Welcome to the True Girl MomDaughter Devos with Coloring Experience. This book is kind of like a study tool for True Girl: Discover the Secrets of True Beauty. If you want to go deeper, this is the book for you.

During each week of devos, I will help you:

improve YOUR understanding of true beauty & modesty as you read or review the content of one chapter in True Girl: Discover the Secrets of True Beauty.

renew YOUR love relationship with Jesus through five simple daily devotions.

strengthen YOUR mother/daughter relationship as you talk about true beauty and modesty and end your week with a coloring experience!

If you’ve already read True Girl: Discover the Secrets of True Beauty, you’re good to go. Dive in! Throughout this book, I’ll be encouraging you to read or review chapters in that book. You decide if you need the review. If you haven’t read the book, read the chapter assigned before you start a new week of devos. You can do this book without the other, but I highly recommend the complete experience.

Now, here is a quick review of the final pages of True Girl: Discover the Secrets of True Beauty, just in case you’re skipping that book. (I hope you won’t!) Take a look at this power verse:

Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes. Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight.

    (1 Peter 3:3–4 NIV)

When do you get unfading beauty? You get it when your inner self is made beautiful through a love relationship with Jesus.

What 1 Peter 3:3–4 is really challenging is this: Do you spend more time in front of the mirror making yourself externally beautiful, or do you spend more time developing your inner beauty through quiet communion with God? (This is thoroughly explained in True Girl: Discover the Secrets of True Beauty.)

This book is everything you need to take my True Girl Beauty Challenge. Here’s how it works:

Challenge yourself each day to spend a little more time with God than you spend working on your external self. Although I don’t want you to get caught up in watching the clock, I know that pushing yourself in this area of discipline will change you immensely. Maybe you take about fifteen minutes to get ready each morning—set a goal of spending twenty minutes a day with God.

I want you to do this for the next seven weeks, for five out of seven days a week. WHOA! That sounds like a big investment of time, doesn’t it? Well, I’ve been doing it for twenty-three YEARS! Do you know what’s happened? I’ve changed from a girl who disliked what I saw in the mirror so much that I would not look in it, to a woman who looks in the mirror and thinks: I’m a masterpiece created by God!

Working on my internal beauty has helped me to accept my external
