The first book in the Brute Force series by Lora Leigh is Collison Point. This first book follows Amara Resnova, who is the daughter of a crime lord, and Riordan Malone, who used to be her bodyguard. Riordan and Amara have a secret relationship until she gets kidnapped and both she and Riordan get hurt. You pick the story back up after about six months after this and find out that they are no longer together and Amara is trying to find him because she needs his help keeping her safe from her dad's enemies. Amara does not remember anything from the time that she got hurt and broke Riordan's heart, but can he forgive her and keep her safe? Can Amara remember what she is trying so desperately to block from her mind? This book was super spicy. The storyline was fantastic and really kept you engaged, but wow those spicy scenes were intense. The twist at the end was spot on and I did not see it coming. I really enjoyed this book and can't wait to continue the series with, Dagger's Edge.

Amara Restnova can't remember anything from the past year including her abduction and her lover, bodyguard, Riordan Malone. Amara begins to have flashes and dreams about her experience and that leads her to contact Riordan when she believes that her life is still in danger. Riordan nearly died in the rescue of Amara and he still loves her, so he agrees to return to Amara's home to protect her. Standing in their way is Amara's father, who was once a powerful crime boss, but has changed his ways due to Amara's insistence that he do so if he wants to keep her in his life.
This book is light on plot, but heavy on physical romance. The two main characters can't seem to keep their hands off one another and that gets in the way of the story of Amara's missing year. There are no real clues as to who abducted her and why until the last couple of chapters of the book, making it seem as though the first three quarters of the book served no real purpose in the story. Overall, a disappointing and frustrating story.

This review may contain spoilers, so fair warning, upon reading the review.“I loved you from the first look, before I ever kissed you, before I ever touched you,”IntroductionCollision Point is the first book in the "Brute Force" series, and this is also connected to her "Elite ops" series, so if you have read that series, you will recognize some of the characters that enter this story. This book was one of my romanceopoly picks and I have to say having read some Lora Leigh this past week, I am quickly remembering why I fell so hard for this author and yeah she has a massive backlist that I need to start working on. I really ADORED this one, it had me laughing all over the place and the OG alpha overtones were so delicious here. I really liked the way that this one was built and yeah it kept me on the edge of my seat and I just loved it all the way through.SummaryThe set up of Collision Point is where we see our characters being in a relationship. In the prologue we have an intense scene, where the heroine Amara, has been kidnapped. She is then rescued by her fathers team and her bodyguard and lover Riordan, but when he is shot and almost dies, their relationship is grounded to a halt. Amara doesn't know why suddenly Riordan drops off the face of the earth or why her father doesn't believe that her life is in danger but she knows that she still has a enemy even if she has lost many of her memories. But there are secrets that those that love her the most are keeping from her, but when her memory returns, will Amara be able to do what needs to be done to keep Riordan in her life?“Never, Amara. Never in this fucking lifetime will I allow you to remain in danger. Never will I allow anyone to steal this from us.”My OutlookCollision Point was such a heartbreaking book at times. We get this intense prologue and then it skips ahead six months and so we have to see this couple that loves each other but are so distant from each other and learning to reconnect and find their way back together again with the added bonus of Amara not remembering much of what they had before except some flashbacks. I have to say I adored both of these characters. There is something so addicting to how Lora Leigh writes her characters and I just couldn't get enough of these two here. Especially in how the hero is so alpha and all the STEAM. If you love a good level of spice in your romance, then Lora Leigh needs to be on your list!!! Her books are so wonderful in writing these elements and they just have such OG feels to them that just pulls you in. My only complaint on the story is the narration and how the hero's dialogue was handled, it was awful. But eventually I stopped noticing but yeah his voice tone wasn't done quite right. The plot of the story really keeps you on edge from beginning to end and its built so well throughout the story to keep you on edge and keep you guessing on who the true villain is and when its revealed oh boy its dramatic but AWESOME!! haha Lora Leigh really put some shockers in this book that seemed to really work so well for me.“Always,” she swore in turn. “Always, Riordan. I live for you.” It went beyond love. It went beyond death. Beyond heart. The souls of two were bound, until they were indeed one. Feeling with a love outside their own, loving with a spirit bound to their own. Caught within each other.Overall ViewI found Collision Point to be such a delightful intense, keep yourself buckled in because this one will be one wild ride of thrills, sexual tensions, and love winning over all!!!Rating Evaluation:Plot: 5World Building: 4Cover:4Hero: 5Heroine: 5Steam: 5Heart & Feels: 5Ending:5Overall View: 4.5

I’m always nervous about starting a book series that is a spin-off without reading the original that it came from. Thankfully, this never seemed like a spin-off because all the information to understand the story is there for you to read. That made this an easy beginning to a new world for me. Which is funny because my notes from reading the book completely contradict how I started this post. I know how that sounds, but bear with me, the confusion there seems like that is completely authors intention here. See Amara is like a Russian crime lords daughter. At the start of the book, someone breaks her body while she was being held captive. Then as she is weak, she gets rescued. So my first thought while I was reading and as she is seeing people she knows are rescuing her. On top of that, she is already completely in love with one, Riordan. During the rescue, she knows it is a trap that is meant to kill Riordan. So as they are escaping, she trying to warn him of the trap and he gets shot carrying her. As they are making their escape on the helicopter, Amara hears that Riordan is dying from one of the men helping with the rescue. He dies but comes back a time or two. Amara wakes up completely forgetting him and a bunch of stuff from the past year. So you get to read the journey while she rediscovers her love for him. Amara forgets a lot, from meeting him on to waking up in the hospital was completely gone. She couldn’t remember any of it. There is only one thing that she remembers and it is an intense loss. She lost someone that day.Flash over to Riordan because he isn’t just a hunk of meat to throw at the reader to enjoy super hot romps. I mean he is in a way but... Anyway; he is a good a good Irish boy that has a family attribute that is magical. It’s not actual magic but it might as well be labeled that way. Basically, Malone men if they have the soulful Irish eyes and when they fall in love with their one soulmate, they have this intense bond with them. It reminds me of a bond you find in some vampire romances. Where they instinctively know how the other is feeling or thinking. Oh, they also connect to each other through dreams and nightmares too. It’s called “finding their way” which I like. I like that it has its own family legacy to it. Having that soulful connection and her memory loss was a strong way to explain that soul connection that they share. There are few surprises that I feel were predictable and then some I didn’t expect. I didn’t see it going that way. The whole journey through the book was good as she rediscovered her memories and her love and loss. I really like the book and how well the whole story was written out. Now I have heard Lora Leigh over the years and I know that she has tons of books but I have never read one. If I have it was so long ago that I completely forgot the story. Although I really don’t think I have. So my opinion is this is a pretty good book with a little mystery and “magic”. I’m calling it magic.

Rcvd and ARC at no cost to author..(netgalley)..It was suspenseful, it was filled with action, and I think it had a story line in between all the sex. Again, don't get me wrong, I like sex but I couldn't understand how they could get anything done, and they had to do a lot..I kind of feel like there was so much going on, and If you are not familiar with her previous books, you will wonder what you missed, and yes you did miss stuff because Rory was from a previous book. anyhoo I didn't think I got the answer that I wanted..

When you read a Lora Leigh book, you can pretty much guarantee that you are going to get plenty of hot, steamy romance. That is exactly what I got with this book. Riordan and Amara could not keep their hands off each other. They were so drawn to one another. You could really feel the heat radiating off the pages of this book. Which, if this was just a romance book then I would be fine with all of the sex but the book felt like it wanted to be a romantic suspense. In this case, then I wanted to have more to grab onto than just "sex". The rest of the storyline was weaker. Although, it did try to make up and focus some more on the plot during the latter half of the book. At this point I was kind of over the whole book. If, the balance between the romance and suspense had been better, my thoughts would have gone higher on this book.

Written as a spin off the the Elite Ops series, this story was a little confusing for a stand alone. A little repeat from the previous book (other series) would have helped alleviate that. However, the characters were well defined, the sex was hot & intense (if a bit much) & the storyline interesting to follow. The plot had twists & turns to keep the reader hooked & involved. I would give the impression of being dumped into the middle of a story 3 stars. The character development, plot organization & suspense 4 stars averaging 3.5. If you give this book a chance, I think you'll enjoy it.

COLLISION POINT is the beginning of a brand new series but as I was reading I felt that there were stories for some of the characters that I was missing. Some quick research at Fantastic Fiction tells me that some of these characters were introduced in the Elite Ops series which I have on TBR mountain. The basic story is that Riordan Malone was hired as a bodyguard for Amara Resnova. They fell in love, started a hot affair, then he was sent on an assignment, and, while he was gone, she was kidnapped. He found her severely beaten and with broken bones and rescued her. During the course of the rescue he was shot multiple times and died three or four times before he got to the hospital and out of the operating room.He tries to contact her and is denied by her family who says she doesn't want to talk to him. Then she comes running to him because she's had dreams that tell her that he is the only one who she can trust. She has had a number of close calls which tells her that whoever kidnapped her and wanted her dead hasn't given up. The trauma of her abduction has made her lose all memory of the last year of her life. The last thing she remembers is meeting him when her father hires him to be her bodyguard.Riordan was getting ready to go claim her when she came looking for him. He formed a connection with her that makes her his. He is willing to die for her. The sexual tension is high between the two of them despite Amara's lack of memory of their previous relationship. Much of the book is foreplay between the two of them. Lots of the rest describes their sexual encounters in tedious detail. The romance plot far outweighs the suspense plot in this story. In fact, when the villain was revealed, my first reaction was "who's that?" Fans of Leigh's steamy romances will enjoy this one. People looking for suspense should look elsewhere.
