Aqidah

Aqidah is a proud native of Chicago's Southside where she was born and raised. She credits her success to an unwavering perseverance despite traumatic childhood experiences and being abused while in the foster care system. She is an alum of Hyde Park Career Academy's class of 2005. Following, she moved to Atlanta, GA, to attend the prestigious Spelman College. It was during her pursuit of a Creative Writing minor at Spelman, Aqidah discovered her interest in writing. She graduated with Cum Laude Honors and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Theatre. She is a lover of travel, cooking, reading and music. Her debut collection of poetry Blossom Gold was released in June 2018, highlighting poems of resilience inspired by her youth ,social issues, heartbreak and love.
