T.A. Unwin is a writer and artist from London, now living on the Hampshire coast in England. Her childhood revolved around animals; looking after pets and writing stories about them. A passion for the natural world led to a Zoology degree followed by a Masters in Animal Welfare. Writing then took a back seat as the young adventurer set off to gain experience of working with different animals around the world. She trailed after the macaque monkeys in Gibraltar, as well as their monkey cousins in India, studied birds in Scotland, researched vultures in Namibia and spent ten weeks monitoring marine mammals from a boat in the Mozambique Channel. Currently she works part-time in a zoo and has finally returned to her favourite hobby – writing stories about animals. She has two noisy budgies who do their best to put a stop to this.

A Super Idea
Bobby was bored. He often felt that way in the evening, once the stream of strangers passing the front gate had dwindled to a dribble, and the neighbourhood cats became harder to see. Not that he could really be bothered to chase any more of them by the time his 7 o’clock walk came around, having normally notched up at least ten ‘hunts’ in the daylight hours. And to be honest, he was starting to feel a bit bad about that, suspecting that his victims might not enjoy the chase as much as he did. Being a puppy, Bobby tended to see everything as a game, but recently he had begun to wonder if perhaps there was more to life – a higher purpose, even. He secretly thought that he might be destined for great things.
The streets were quiet now, but things still happened, if one was patient enough to wait and watch. Ah, there was the old lady, Mrs Mitts, who lived in the bungalow around the corner, and crossed the road in front of Bobby’s house every evening. Although there were hardly any cars on the road, the old lady always stopped at the kerb, put down her bag of shopping and carefully looked both ways several times. When eventually she seemed convinced that the road was empty, Mrs Mitts picked up her bag and hurried stiffly across as if being pursued by an
