Rinker and Lichtenheld have combined two books into one in "Goodnight, Goodnight Construction Site." The book is both an introduction to construction site trucks and a soothing bedtime story. Each of the vehicles portrays a distinct personality, the book rhymes and the pictures are lushly illustrated.

It's a nice book for the author's sons. I wish it also showed women as tough and strong trucks so little girls could dream digging and building too.

I picked this one up to preview as a gift for a soon-to-be big brother who is Preschooler’s age. Think Goodnight Moon with a Bob the Builder twist. If you’re looking for a bedtime story for a boy (or girl!) who doesn’t appreciate the soft and cuddly, but something with a little more “action”, this is your pick.

The board book edition is a little long for the youngest toddlers, perhaps... but you know that kids who love construction machines will be hard on their books, so this is the right one for them to own and carry around everywhere they take their favorite trucks!

Each of the machines on a construction site winds down their work and tucks themselves in to sleep.

Very cute, with good rhyming. The illustrations of construction trucks with little blankets on their backs or holding teddy bears are extremely cute. However, I do wish that ALL of the trucks didn’t use he/him pronouns. They’re trucks, can’t one of them be not male?

Goodnight, Goodnight Construction Site is a great book for young children. The story tells of the job each vehicle on a construction site does. It tells that they rest at night as well. The illustrations are lovely. The rhymes are quiet and soothing. The repetition will surely soothe young children to sleep.

This is a good book for learning about trucks. It is a good book for learning about rhyme and repetition. I would recommend this to readers of all ages who are fans of picture books. Lovely!

The book is great for a nap time or bedtime story. It'd be great for kids obsessed with construction sites and trucks etc. The rhyming text is catchy and a fun story for young kids.

Curricular connections to different places and spaces of work. Teaching kids how to relax and that everyone and everything needs to go to bed.

Excellent choice for bedtime themed story time. When I read it, the kids really seemed to enjoy guessing which machine it was. They loved the rhyming. I had them whisper on the 'goodnight, goodnight' parts. Boys and girls enjoyed it!

I really liked this book for a few different reasons. First, the illustrations were amazing. I specifically loved the colors that Lichtenheld used. I thought that the rhymes were really thoughtful and creative, as well. It was easy to read and also easy to listen to. I think that this book would be very entertaining in a classroom and could teach children a lot about the different components of a construction site. It uses many technical terms and could help children to enhance their vocabulary as well.

My 2 yr old son LOVES this book, and so do I. Not only are the pictures really well done and very sweet (not to mention he loves to point out the owl and cardial that appear on some pages), the rhyming of the story is written really well. I don't love to read all my sons books to him over and over again, but this one I never tire of reading.

Delightful and well-written long-form poetry that anthropomorphizes construction equipment going to sleep. Alas, there isn't a female pronoun to be found in the book.
